Unquestionablly the nicest value on the market today
For any controlled by/object requiring precise placement and framing a gear head is imperative, and this head is currently the kindest value in the market for 35mm camera users. Such subjects/objects include product, nutriment, interior, architectural, and some portraits (location/life style). Other types of photography including view, sports, and events might benefit more from other types of heads such as ball heads or none at all. The Manfrotto 410 offers full authority of each axis independently of the other axis. Hence, the head allows for rotation, and forward and side tilting. Each movement is required for framing subjects/objects. For example, while photographing interiors achieving level placing is very important to maintaining none converging vertical lines. By having the ability to control well-advanced tilt independently from side tilt, obtaining straight vertical lines becomes an easy duty. Furthermore, while photographing food if the front lip of the plate appears too...
    Extreme Product
There are alot of reviews out for this head if you look around. For the most part they are all suitably. This is a great head. Its not the lightest head. In fact, its really heavy, but if you want a head that isn't going to move then this is what you want. This tripod head will cradle quite a bit and not budge. Its excellent for macro work. Just pair it up with a nice revile, and you will be all set. The knobs are easy to move, and if you need to make any major adjustments the spring loaded knobs deliverance and let you spin the axis freely. If you need something to hike or travel with, you need to look somewhere else. Bottom short-listed for, this is an excellent value. You won't be disappointed.
    Manfrotto 410 Geared Head
I've owned this head for several years. It is built like a tank and makes it leisurely to achieve fine adjustments. I often mount a telescope on it atop a Bogen 475 tripod. The only downside for photography is in making spirited camera reorientations: While it has a quick release in each axis, re-pointing is not as quick and intuitive as with a pill mount. All-in-all an excellent piece of equipment with a variety of uses when paired with a good tripod.

GS5160CDT Arca Swiss-Genre Plate DOES NOT WORK
So... the above procession is right-on-the-money. I should, I realize, but almost NEVER-ever write out reviews like this, but I'm so ticked off at Gitzo for selling a output that does not work... that I just have to this time. This is there product: The "Gitzo GS5160CDT Arca Swiss-Archetype Plate". It is designed in order for you to adapt any Arca Swiss QR plate or L brackets to your Gitzo Ballhead. I called "De facto Right Stuff", as well as "Kirk" and BOTH agreed that this adapter plate is crap. I quote "Yeah, the Gitzo Rep. came out and he couldn't even get it to fit when he gave a evidence." So... what the hell. Why are they selling something for $40 (average price) when it does not do what it says it is theoretical to do??? Therefore, if you really want to use an "L Bracket" system for your Legs (tripod)... then spend the premium cash on a better ballhead first. The Gitzo head are less expensive, and now, maybe I know why...
    Did not fit
This part did not fit: it would not reshape my gitzo G2272M ball head to my Kirk BL-D300 Arca-type L Bracket. It may have been defective. Redux: a replaceement part was interchangeable. This part does not do what it purports to do. THis will not adapt a Gitzo "safety" quick release system, like the G2272M low net profit head to an Arca-swiss bracket like the Kirk L-bracket BL-D300. I don't know what it does, but it does not do this. The Kirk L-division is okay, so the problem isn't there. At this time, there is no way to use Arca-swiss style L-Brakcets with the Gitzo "safety" quick saving system. This part was supposed to adapt the two, but doesn't.
    Don't even take a wager
This adapter is putative to fit Arca Swiss plates. As other people who have tried this adapter have found out it doesn't fit all Arca Swiss plates. I tried to modify it by filing in down. After severals hours - no success rate. Good money and effort thrown away. I also bought a Gitzo G065 oversee platform and it was so poorly constructed I had to return it - twice. I eMailed Gitzo about the problems and didn't make a response. I just don't understand it. Gitzo has made good tripods for many years. But they have lost it with this adapter and the television screen platform.

The potentiality of unused moving in both axes using the freewheeling modus then ensures vacant movements be like to those of a globular head. The ARCA-SWISS d4 and d4m have, like the cube C1 from ARCA-SWISS, a turning plot on its common to prepare the camera as well as a panning monogram under the camera mount for panorama pans which maintains the gimbal pin. It has all the zeal levels you could penury to get the policy be open even if the head isn’t unalterable itself. Panning is doable on the poor of the head and on the QR cover which is an excuse use for when the tripod isn’t knock down. The one point I will re-iterate is that this head is small by comparability to any other head that competes in......
