I fondness it! Way better than I expected!
I had been looking at the In the end Right Stuff L plates for my new 60D, but I'm so happy I saved money and went with this plate. It fit my 60D truly. I was concerned about it covering the battery compartment, but not at all. It's solidly built and beautiful. I'm thrilled I went with this!!
Famed alternative to pricier plates
I got this matter to have an L-plate on my Pentax K-5. It fits snugly without rotating and the lip on the bracket fits perfectly against the back of the camera fuselage, making it very secure. It fits into the two Arca-Swiss tripod heads that I own. It does NOT allow the battery entrance way of the K-5 to open when installed. Not a problem for me, but I may but a few mm off the end to allow the battery door to open.
Cloth Quality
I was surprised at the assemble quality of this L-Bracket. I do not own any original arca swiss equipment to compare but i can tell from the finish and weight that it will last. Fits very smoothly on a Nikon D200 allowing full opening of battery compartment. However it does not allow the side caps for the USB and video out/power adaptor to unobstructed (hence 4 stars). Personally i don't mind this because i do not use these facilities on the D200 since i use a card reader. I love the slim intend and ablity to clamp camera portrait to do panoramas. Bought this with their 60mm arca type QR clamp and both came in well padded boxes BUT with no enchiridion/instructions. The clamp is also excellent quality (see my review for it - [...]).

Critical for Sony A55
Splendidly made and a good fit for my Sony A55 considering it's a universal plate. I couldn't use the back stop but that hasn't reduced the functionality.

very gentlemanly bracket
This is a very nicely machined bracket. I use it with my 5dmk2 along with an diagonal usb cable (usb connector at a right angle) and a wired remote - no problems. It's very stable: I photograph a lot of artwork so it's all about sturdy. As it's universal I'm also adapting it for my e-pl2 for both mounting and as a useful small grip. With minimal machining (in my casket this means hacksaw and file) I can both clear the battery door and center the lens on the tripod (Olympus that's crude - that's P/S kludging you schmoes ) . Also, being universal, I don't have to keep buying stuff. Now I'll admit that rss etc is very pretty but by the lifetime you've purchased their special extenders that actually let you use the camera functions - you're over a couple hundred benjamins lighter - it's too much for a economy b*stard like me. Or - I can get this clamp and 2 bottles of good scotch - I know what my choice is. I also use sunway clamps etc and find it all...

High-minded sweetness !!!
Blown in a different place by this purchase... plain and simple. I am using this on a Canon 7D or a 5DmkII. Exceptional importance at a fraction the cost of the big boy vendors offering; like RSS, Acratech, Kirk, etc. Sure it doesn't look as pulchritudinous but man, I'll take the 200-300 savings at put it towards another lens or whatever! Fits like a dream, has more functionality for me in that it has multiple mounting summon sites for my Black Rapid hookup and still fits into my Acratech GPs ball head securely. Freestyle doors still fully accessible. Really couldn't ask for more. There is a review here dinging it because you can't access the side jacks but plainly that guy does not know that you can take the covers completely off and then have full access. I highly suggest this purchase if you're a photog with currency to burn but still gawk at a 300+ dollar piece of metal. Bottom line : If you want a pulchritudinous one spend 300 bucks... if you want a functional one (it's still quite handsome) and also end up with a...
