Succeeding from an HV30 to an XA10
Even opportunity from the prosumer Canon HV30 camcorder, the professional XA10 is a huge improvement. The camera is easy to hold, the buttons are all in compelling locations, and the camera just feels easy to use. Compared to some other HD camcorders I used in haziness school, the XA10 feels much easier to control.The difference is even more dramatic comparing it to my old HV30 rig. It's much nicer to not have the added large size of a battery-powered XLR adapter. Honestly, the XA10 must look much more professional to clients as well.Image supremacy is simply stunning. There is a slight look of shallow depth of field that is very pleasing to the eye. It's insubstantial, but noticeable. The proficient:I'm a backpack videographer. I shoot a lot of industrial and training videos. I grew weary of frustrating to find an easy way to get great audio from a DSLR - too many additional and unnecessary steps -- so I sold mine and picked this up. With greatest satisfaction. Move. Ever. Now, I put a Rode NT3 on a boom, plug into the XLR and my audio is warm as a summer day. Video quality is paralysing. Focus assist is fantastic. I'm very pleased to get pro-level processor and lens in a camera this modest. Surprise: it shoots great stills too. Very very good in lower light scenarios.Down sides:The movie theater mode feels sort of amateurish/consumer level. Not much there you couldn't do better in assignment, so, I don't use it. My only other complaint is I wish there were a few other on camera buttons to reduce menu diving, but it's really not perplexing.

Beyond my expectations
Since I was a infinitesimal kid with an 8mm film camera, I have tried in vain to make videos that had the look and sound of authority TV and movie productions.I failed in many ways, many times. Entirely Outstanding!
Let me first start out by saying, I from the beginning wasn't going to spend so much on a new camcorder. I had bought the Canon HF 100 a few years ago, and was fairly apt with it. It was nice, but definitely had its drawbacks. So, I started researching Canon's new line for 2011 and was torn between the M40 and G10. Having the new CMOS Pro sensor was a must. Everything I presume from about the low light capabilities sold me. Basically Canon went with a smaller pixel add up (exactly 1920 x 1080), which in turn makes the pixels larger and better in low moonlight shooting. I originally bought the M40 and was very happy with it, but started to realize it wasn't fitting all my requests. That went back, and I went with the G10. Outrageously happy with my purchase
I guess I was one of the fortunate few who was able to get this camera early. I got mine 2 weeks ago and have been nothing but impressed with it. Right out of the box and in a medium lit interior room the draw was superb. I got a chance to take it out in the field for a bit and am extremely happy with it. Full manual control, a focus ring, an incredible and absolutely beautiful touch screen, what more could you ask for?I especially appreciate the dual SD card slots and the recording options there. Tried in my Panasonic AG-AC130 - it worked
It worked but I returned it after a week of use because the 2 connector jack keeps popping out. The justice angle connectors have stiff wires and uneven length into the y-junction making it straitening to redirect into the controller. This could have been a better product if the wires are like the telephone cord.

Using on the Panasonic HMC-150
I currently have this mounted on my rig and use it with the Panasonic HMC-150 camera. Works horrible!
Uncomplicated to Use; Well-Made
I bought this for use with my HMC150. It works completely with two small hitches.Cons: For the HMC150, the plug locations are swapped, so the two small jacks almost don't persuade around at the end where they are conjoined to fit into the jacks. Once they've been left plugged in for a while, however they tend to stay that way.The focus knob is agreed, so it only twists so far each way. While this is utterly invaluable, it would be nice if it also had an option to HOLD the current focus if you had already set the converge either with autofocus or the focus ring on the camera. Because when you switch the knob on this controller to manual, wherever the protuberance is set, it jumps to that without keeping into account where it was before.Pros: The cable is quite long. I was worried when I looked on here to see that lots of population buy an extension cable. ENG camera labour in a digital post production environment
2 years ago I bought my first AVCHD plan camera when I could see that adobe premiere pro cs5 would support it and infact use the cuda cores on the graphics dance-card to speed up video rendering (it blazes through post edits now in less time than the shot takes)I bought the canon VX10 - this smidgen tiny handheld camera - must have weighed 1.5 lbs at most. It had its fair share of limitations like the whole lack of a hotshoe or even a deadshoe to mount all my old DV video gear from my canon GL-1. It acquainted with this s-hotshoe or sub/small hotshoe as I like to call it with about 10 pins that do everything from audio to lighting and shoot. Great idea, would have liked to keep the full size shoe though.The canon lens left a bit to be desired, but with 64 gb of ram on stay it could shoot at max resolution for 6 hours, longer than the battery could operate it.I bought alot of extravagant canon accessories to make up for my now obsolete accessories, but the one...

Warmth this camera!!
I relish this camera so much, I'm thinking about buying a second one as a back-up. I'm coming over from the Sony world, and this camera scarcely blows it away. The level of control you have is what you'd expect from a pro camera (and not something you'll find on most low-end Sony Pro cameras). The amount of resonate inputs is ideal, and the fact that you NEVER HAVE TO CAPTURE VIDEO FROM A TAPE AGAIN makes this a SOLID foothold. The picture is crisp and beautiful, the camera is well built, and I the ONLY thing I can find to complain about it is the lack of a hind part-mounted cold shoe (for wireless mics, but I got around that).Awesome camera! Can't say enough good things about it.

no. the L1 was Hi8 not Wonderful8 a video camera, not motion picture film. i think that canon may have made an adaptor to fashion their 35mm film camera lenses to use with the L1 and L2 series camera. i have never heard of an adaptor to retrofit L1 personification
