Works Monstrous - Needs Power Cable - Read on to get one cheap!
I intellect I'd let you know that I found a solution to your problem. Stop by Radio Shack and get an AC to DC power adapter, memorandum #273-1774 and also pick up the end that connects to the adapter and fits in the card. That part is also at Radio Shack adaptaplug tip "H", notice number 273-340 and make sure you put the tip on the correct way on the adapter because of the polarity issue. Once it's relevant correctly, plug your card into the PC, plug the AC adapter with end attached to the card's DC power kin and the card works like a million bucks! Total cost: $23 and some exchange. It's a shame Dynex should include a power cord but they don't, nor do they have one listed on their website. I was able to along 4.6 GB of photos in under 4 minutes. Same batch of photos on the same cord, last night took over 45 minutes on a USB CF plan reader. This was a great solution although it took a little leg work and a few extra bucks to get it done! Do Not Buy
As popular by other reviewers, this device does not seem to work properly. I have a i5 processor windows 7 64 bit system laptop that is 1 month old, and it did not fly at with a firewire connection. I bought the Dynex card and tried it. The card is properly recognized by the computer, but when I connected my Long explanation Camcorder through the firewire cable, it did not recognize the camcorder. I took it back to BestBuy (Dynex is a BestBuy house brand so I prodigy how this is being sold through Amazon) and tried a 2nd card with the same results. To be sure, I connected the camcorder with the same cord to my desktop, and it was tout de suite noted and worked fine. So clearly the card has a problem.

Works for me but not as instructed
I have a Dell Inspiron 1545 perpetual Windows 7 Pro 64-bit. The laptop does not have a firewire or DVI port but it does have an express card slot. I purchased the Dynex Firewire membership card with reservations; I've read the reviews/commentary. Being a tinkerer I decided to get one cheap from another site that shall remainder nameless. I wanted to share how I got my card to recognize my Sony Handycam DCR-HC26 without the use of an AC adapter (the ac adapter didn't labour for my setup) and using the 1394a (400 transfer) slot. I also believe that this card has some complex issues with most Sony camcorders; just my opinion.Here are my steps:1. Insert wag in express card slot - software/driver will be loaded automatically.2. Camera is Close, Software is Useless
I bought my Sony DCR-TRV480 a week ago, to supplant a 9-year-old Sony Hi8 model. My primary requirements were for a model that would make it easy to lay aging 8mm tapes on DVD media, and provide 5-10 years of use for more family videos. My first reactions are that the camera will do the job, but that the provided DVD/VCD software is inutile. I have not really tested the camera functions yet, beyond generating a few minutes of digital tape to sport with for quality comparisons. Thus I must limit my thoughts to the software and the camera interface to my PC. [See my update below.]My first aim was to capture some minutes of preexisting material on my PC to learn the process and explore the software. After diligently reading the directions, I discovered that to burn DVDs with the Sony software, you must own a Sony VIAO computer. Sony keeps improving it...
This is my third Sony digital 8 camcorder (yeah, I positive...dropped one and the other fell into the river while filming kayaking).I keep coming back because: 1) I love the appearance: digital 8 tapes that are compatible with regular 8mm tapes. You have most all advantages of digital, and I can play/scrutiny all the years of tape I recorded on standard 8mm. (For example: camera records timeline on the stick so the correct date/time will always be associated with each scene.) Additionally, while digital 8mm video may not have all the resolution of other digital formats, its file size is much smaller when tranferred to the computer (and I find the resolution to be well). 2) Sony has done a nice job with the concept and improved it with each subsequent model.This model's chief change is the 'touch screen' menu. When my 12-year-old Hi8 Sony went out on me recently I started shopping around. I had narrowed my search to the miniDV HC90 or the DVD403 working model. I was leaning towards the HC90 simply because I liked the longer recording option that tape offers and the truth that both offer a 16:9 aspect ratio. I have a 70-inch HDTV and wanted something to fill the hide. However, the $900 price of those cameras was causing me to consider the new HD Sony camcorder with its $1900 price. I very wasn't ready financially to make such a big leap and wasn't too thrilled with the idea of spending $900 while artful eventually I'd still want the HD when I was able to drop the bucks.Thankfully I stumbled upon this TRV480 image. Okay, I purchased a Dell Vostro 1520 Laptop For the scheme of it's 4 pin 1394 port for my hobby of making home videos with my Sony DCR-HC52!
I was using my Dads Sony Laptop (Windows XP) with a Sony i.association cable which i payed the big bucks
