Too much vibration
Due to the low premium and generally good reviews, I bought this item. The suction grip is very strong; there seems to be no risk that this will deteriorate attack off a window even with a small camcorder attached. Mine did not come with the extension arm, so my camcorder had to be mounted upside down on the windshield. The representative can easily be rotated 180 degrees within editing software, so being upside down is not a problem for me. Furthermore, having an length arm might likely result in less stability, so it's probably best to use the shortest/sturdiest mount possible. (I shelter't tested that claim so it might not be true.) My camcorder, with optical image stabilization, zoomed all the way out for the widest contemplation (also the least sensitive to vibration), and driving on a reasonably smooth paved...
Excuse, but not for off-label use
This apparently is designed to be a CCTV mount. As such, with most CCTV cameras having top mounted attachment, I have no doubt that it works spotlessly.It is very well constructed and does indeed have amazing suction power and solid construction without any "wriggles".I bought it hoping that I could use it on the quite steeply raked windshield of a late model Civic to film driving routes with my digital camera. Even though I have a low side-view "ultracompact" digital camera, there was not enough room between the windshield and the mount to allow me to mount the camera - unless I mounted it upside down, which I of course could not do because of the inability to rotate the resulting movie.FORTUNATELY I discovered that the Civic has a flat non-spongy ( i.e. plastic ) top gauge cover, and was able to mount it on that. I use RAM's suction cup with camera mount (RAM-B-166-202AU) in the car or van with my Canon Vixia HF21 camcorder. In my the reality, the suction mount is attached to the inside of the driver's side window with the camcorder aimed through the front windshield. This location allows me to leave alone mounting the camcorder on the sharply angled windshield. Also easier to get to when mounting or removing.In this location (driver's side window), the lens of the camcorder aligns even-handed to the right of my state's inspection sticker on the windshield. Windshield is relatively flat in this bailiwick, minimizing distortion. The driver's side window can be lowered about half way without removing the mount and the driver's entryway can be opened or closed easily. Of course, shut the door gently to avoid shaking the ill-fated camera apart. I've slammed the door more than once while distracted, but cringed each time afterwards. Element arrived very fast and was packed very well. Quality of product is amazing and I wont buy any mount other than RAM from now on. Using this with my contour hd1080p and the mount will nail to whatever part of my car I put it on. Prior to getting this mount, I used a cheaper mount just to try it out...what a mistake! Video was very shaky and not viewable. When using this mount...no affair how rough or smooth the road, no matter what angle it is positioned, video is perfectly unwavering every time! A lot excel than expected
I use this for my rig with a Canon 5d MKII and a Zoom h4n. I have an L support attached to my camera then I attached this to the L bracket. The build quality is a lot better then expected. I was filming helicopter winging operations on a ship out in the ocean. This piece of gear held up to my expectations. While I intended on purchasing it to power the Zoom audio recorder and microphones, I ended up trusting it with my 5D MKII, hanging off one of the rails on the vessel as we took a sharp turn at full speed.While shooting on the flight deck, I was directly underneath a CH-46 helicopter as it was hope in for a landing. Anyone who has been there or seen the footage, knows that there is a lot of thrust that blows off the rotors. My camera with a 70-200mm 2.8 lens mounted on a tripod, ended up snapping the do a bunk that mounts to the camera from the base plate. Weird and one of a kind!
I acclimated to this clamp to suspend a microphone from the crossbars of a jeep. Its unique joints allow you to pivot 360 degrees in all three dimensions! What's more, the head of the screw is flat ended, intended for tables, but the curve on the top causticity works really nicely for my purposes.Because the mic stays mounted on a moving (bouncing) mechanism, one of the joints tended to keep getting loose. Not a problem if you're stationary. My previous one mysteriously locked up though - perchance the threads of the screw oxidized. After much searching (I couldn't remember the make or model) I'm thrilled I once found it again - there's nothing else configured like it. Just remember to clean it once in a while!

Horrendous deal
This offshoot was delivered quickly and was in good condition. The directions were lacking but the flexcope was easy enough to upon out. I am useing it for a droid razr and my itouch both fit perfectly because of the holding device. The holding ruse is a little flimsy but it works good enough to use. Besides that the rest of the product is well made and likes very strong. I would vouch for buying this for mounting your device.
