It was a consumer camera so good and so ahead of its time that it remained on the market for four years - an boundlessness in the consumer electronics industry.Canon has a similar product in their HV series HDV camcorders. They released such an on-going camera two years ago with the HV20 that the two new models since (the HV30 and now the HV40) are really just small refinements of a act one's age and well designed product.**NEW FEATURES**So let's get one thing out of the way up front: There really isn't much of a difference between this camera and last year's HV30 (which was a mignonne upgrade on the superb HV20). As an HV20 owner, I felt right at home when this arrived and I powered it up. Video standing is about the same, they look pretty much the same, and overall performance is the same too. What is different is the addition of true 24P recording which offers a more obscure-like frame rate over the... The HV40 Continues Canon's Dominance of the Consumer HDV Store The Canon HV40 is primitively a slightly improved Canon HV30 (which itself was a slightly improved HV20), with a few extra features. The HV hint cord has been very popular the past few years and has a devoted following of fans and enthusiasts. There are even web sites true to the HV line. So if you wish to research the HV line in-depth, the resources are definitely there. Moving on to the HV40 in individual to, the biggest new feature is 24P recording which offers footage more comparable to real film. To be direct, I doubt this feature will matter or make a difference to the average consumer, but for film students, enthusiasts, and skilful videographers, it offers more creative control and that true "cinema" effect. There are plenty of illustrative videos posted on the web demonstrating the effect of 24P (and the HV40 itself). The HV40 maintains the Canon HV line reputation of being the gunk of the crop among consumer HDV cameras. However, with AVCHD significantly closing the gap, both in... Surprising Video, Easy to Use, Some Components a Bit Dated At the antiquated of this writing, [...], one of the most trusted technology review sites on the web, list's the HV40's immediate predecessor, the HV30, on three its five Top Camcorders lists: Best Camcorders (Overall), Best Home Large screen Camcorders and Best HD Camcorders . The only two categories in which they don't list the HV30 as one of their best models are the "Best Pro Camcorders" liber veritatis (all of which are significantly more expensive than the HV30) and the "Best Budget Camcorders" list (all of which are significantly cheaper). That's a tremendous show of keep for the HV30. As I write this, CNET hasn't yet published their full review of the HV40, but as it incrementally improves on some of the HV30's features, I have no talk over with to think CNET will think any less of the HV40's performance. As an amateur videographer, without CNET's ability to project with as many other models as they enjoy, I trust and value their judgement. How does the HV40 stack up against the...

Windows 7, Windows Vista and Windows XP compatible.Customer ReviewsCharles LocklinCompliant to use with multiple software. Does not drop frames as often as my Dazzle does and keeps champion footage for mpg movies. I recommend this product espically for the novice who wants to capture video with the reduced setup requirements. Hauppauge USB-Last2 I am using this result with Windows 7, 64 bit. The purpose of this product is to transfer analog video to a digital style via a USB interface on a computer. It will do that but it is very difficult to tell that it is, in fact, working. I was able to see the video during the conversion change only on one video tape that I transferred. The balance of the conversions were "videoless" during the transfer and there was sound only, however, the mpg column created had video and audio quality equivalent to the orignal video 8 tape. The software for the artifact has a "source" setup that permits either using a TV or analog video source. The setup does not salvage and indicate the source that you are using, however, it does seem to save the source from session to session. The software for the result could use a lot of improvement. Works on Linux Supports full 720x480@30FPS collar over USB 2.0. Pixel format is packed YUV 4:2:2. Linux kernels > 2.6.32 fundamental a patched driver. The latest driver source is available from the LinuxTV project. Look for media_figure. The patch is available at the Kernel Labs blog.

Powerful Once Up and RunningI'm somewhat tech savvy, and usually products with this many features are difficult to put together and launch, but this thing was extraordinarily easy set up. Cerevo's menu system is easy to learn and navigate through. They also came out with new updates where you can now tide directly to Justin.TV, LiveStream, YouTube, or any Flash Media RTMP server (I over before it only streamed directly to UStream).Construction on the LiveShell is very tight. The plastic is light-weight but its not gauzy. The unit came with an AC adapter, mount shoe, WiFi adapter, AV-IN, set up and HDMI cables. (Only factor missing is batteries, which I don't understand why they didn't throw in)Final Thoughts: The LiveShell makes it clear to live stream to the internet from my video camera with solid video quality. I think about the unit is an amazing buy for the money. I was able to unpack the contents and begin shooting + streaming be videos IMMEDIATELY. Love it. Leading concept idea... not a fully functional product. I'm an ahead of time adopter and I don't mind a bit of Beta testing, but doing Alpha testing - no.The LiveShell is a basic concept but lacks practicality and falls very short on functionality, almost. The LiveShell is ready for shop if the market is redefined. Contour, sellers of , , are touting the LiveShell as a way to stream your skirmish video, to Ustream.TV. That may be possible if you have special housing, a... |
