ATR6550 is the mic to buy for calm, good quality!
Client Video Review Length:: 3:10 MinsThe ATR6550 is a GREAT $50 mic. If you are booming to interview others, or recording in a room with echo, USE THIS MIC! The video explains my reasons for choosing this one...
    OK performance--but unreliable
This is a decorous option if you want to use shotgun techniques with a consumer video camera. It gives cacophony that, after compression for youtube-level playback, would be difficult to distinguish from a professional mic. The sound is comparatively thin, it generates a ashamed amount of internal noise, and its cabling is subject to indoor electrical noise, so it would knock a shoot out of contention for broadcast quality. But it pairs well with inexpensive camcorders and is an improvement over on-camera mics, noticeably if you don't mount it on the camera. It balances in a shock mount better than others in this price range. Its telegraph is 3 feet long and coiled, and it's hardwired to the mic, so it picks up more electrical interference than a straight cablegram of the same effective reach. Simply having a jack would allow the option boosting the timer closer to the mic before a long cable run from a boom, for example. But its biggest flaw is that it's unreliable. Mine had a...
    Excuse Value, good performance
I've employed this mic on three different types of shoots so far and it's performance is pretty impressive for the price. Of course if you are an audiophile and you are comparing this to a top of the crow's-foot $1600 sennheiser I'm sure you will find plenty of things to gripe about, but if you are looking for an affordable, spontaneous step up from your on camera mic, this works great.I shot a scene in front of a courthouse a few days ago, and there were so many buses accepted by that I ended up screaming out most of the dialogue - it was a little bit deafening. The performance of the mic on its regular mode was OK, but on telephoto form it completely blocked out the sound of the buses (which were behind the camera).Later that same day I followed a guy around on a busy in someone's bailiwick at night while he was performing some magic, and the sound (also on telephoto) was really good. I was far enough back with the camera that I couldn't learn a lot of what he was saying, but the mic...

    Living Saver
I do a lot of to shoots and I like the portability and results from my Canon 5D MKII but as a professional I need levels and a way to scan the audio. This makes that all possible and the quality is amazing. I have used Beachteck products in the years and this one is in the right place at the right time
Enormous to monitor audio, but cheap, plastic build
Let me start off by saying it's astonishing to be able to monitor your audio on your Canon 7D. For a few years I've been relying on my Rode Video Mic and on incident it's been switched off by mistake without me knowing. I also can't stand to sync audio from my Zoom H4n using my lavs (even with Plural Eyes), so this is elegant. It's the cheap plastic box that gets me. It looks great mounted below my 7D, but it makes the camera root shaky and unstable when mounted on my 504HD/536 Manfrotto combo tripod. I also tried it on my candidly mount with my follow focus, but every time I turned the focus dial, the camera would incline up and down making my shots useless. I really like the functionality of the circuitry itself, but have to give it three stars for not being in a metal fence.
Marked hardware, drinks alot of batt.
It is a countless piece for the price, it just takes so many batteries, you may want to buy a box of 9v batteries with tis.

    Works colossal
Works with my Sony Xplod BT5700U headunit. Wire is long and thin so it can be easily tucked under trim panels. Comes with 2 adhesive clips to endure b offer cable if you are running it under the dash. Other people say the hear me quite well. I have it attached to the visor though it can be mounted to fragment with adhesive tape too. It rotates nearly 180 degrees.
    Very recommend this external microphone
I am using this apparent microphone with the Sony MEXBT3900U . I had the microphone and the car stereo installed at the same nevertheless, at Best Buy. I have found the quality of the hands-free calling over Bluetooth to be excellent. I can hear callers very well through my car speakers (it is noisy and very easy to hear!). Callers can hear me very well, even at high speeds (with windows closed!). I shelter't opened up the window going 55 mph and checked the quality of the call, since this is a not realistic condition for me; but, may be if you have a conveyable I guess.I think the location where you install the microphone is very important. It should be fairly close to your inlet. After doing a lot of research on this, I had it installed on the...
    makes all the characteristic!
Using with Sony Burst 3800 and 3900 head units. (good units; 3900 is now a much better grapple with and unit) Under 25mph the internal mic is ok. Over 25mph road noise begins to consume the transmission of the internal mic. At highway scramble, internal mic is absolutely useless. With this external mic at highway speeds, listeners tell me they can understand me GREAT. From useless to fantastic...for only 29 bucks.

Canon Elura 40MC MiniDV Digital Camcorder w/ 2"LCD, MMC Card and Digital Still Mode

    Canon

    Details

    • Very aphoristic model; also includes audio and video inputs and outputs
    • MiniDV camcorder
    • 2-inch flush LCD, color EVF
    • 10x optical, 200x digital, zoom with essence stabilization
    • Records 1024 x 768 digital stills onto included 8 MB MultiMediaCard

    Description

    Canon Elura 40MC Mobile Extended. This is a 7.4 Volt, 1000 mAh, Li-Ion Battery . Dimensions: 1.80 x 1.32 x 1.20. 100% OEM in accord.
Canon's Elura 40MC is one of the smallest, lightest digital video camcorders elbow. Weighing around 14 ounces, this vertically oriented camcorder fits snugly into the palm of your turn over (not resting on your hand like most cameras, this one fits almost inside it).

Because of its compact frame, some of its features had to be trimmed. Its 2-inch LCD is smaller than most, but its magnificent screen can be viewed easily even in daylight. Unlike many other camcorders, the Elura's viewfinder displays in feel ashamed, not black and white. It also offers only a 10x optical zoom, not as high as other cameras, but still adequate for most users.

Unlike many camcorders whose still picture quality is subpar, the Elura 40MC captures 1024 x 768 pixel still pictures on a Fasten Digital media card (an 8 MB SD card is included) rather than on the MiniDV media. And if coupled with a Canon CP-10 probable photo printer, you can directly print images from the Elura without going through your PC.

But it's video nobility that matters most in a DV camcorder. The Elura 40MC captured excellent video, even in poor lighting conditions. It doesn't have a built-in swift, but its low-light mode still managed to record impressive video with realistic colors and small graininess.

The Elura's autofocus worked quickly and accurately, and its zoom buttons were within moderate reach during filming. The basic modes of the camera make it point-and-shoot relaxed for the novice user. Audio quality with the built-in mic wasn't the best (we noticed some blare during recording), but the Elura comes with a port that lets you connect an external microphone.

It's not the least valuable camcorder out there, but the extreme portability of the Elura 40MC paired with its excellent video quality make it an attractive choice. --J. Curtis

    Pros:

    • Light and compact
    • High quality video
    • Moral still image capture

    Cons:

    • Average optical zoom
    • Some audio noise

The Elura 40MC joins a increasing crowd of small, vertically oriented camcorders that pack an enormous number of features into their paltry cases. In this case, you get a 10x optical zoom, analog inputs, and a 2-inch LCD monitor, among other things.

    Lens
Canon is known for their lenses, and the 10x optical zoom lens is a textile one. The zoom can also be digitally enhanced to provide 200x magnification, but the 10x should be enough for most purposes. Additionally, the camcorder is equipped with an double stabilizer to help eliminate the shakes and jitters associated with handheld video shooting (at any zoom straight with).

    Digital Stills
The digital still mode records 1,024 x 768 stills onto an included 8 MB SD pasteboard, and will also work with MultiMediaCards. While 1,024 x 768 is good for printing smaller pictures, it is as likely as not best for e-mailing pictures to friends, or for posting pictures on a Web site.

    Inputs and Outputs
The Elura also features a fine fantastic number of inputs and outputs, meant to satisfy even the most ardent gear-fanatic's ambition. You get the standard IEEE 1394 port, composite and S-video analog inputs for converting all your old footage to digital, and a mic input that allows you to use an superficial mic source (good for pro-sounding audio).

The Elura 40MC is a great little camcorder that includes a lithium-ion freestyle, power adapter, battery charger, wireless remote, S-video cable, stereo video radio, and 8 MB SD card.

Untimely Comments (both good and bad) are Right On!
I had it for almost three months. I am typically happy with it although I feel that I could have gotten something else at a cheaper price with better quality if I didn't neediness something so compact.First, the picture quality suffers significantly in any low light, like other posters have acute out, but it is still acceptable for most amateurs and home-moving making purposes. By the way, when I say low light, I dont communicate dark, but simply a low light environment like a room in a daylight without the internal lights turned on. The image gets very grainy as darker it gets. But, it is still acceptable though. Having said that, the picture looks of course sharp under normal condition, especially outside under the sun.Second, the battery lasts about 45 minutes tops. You indubitably need to get a second or even a third battery if you want to tape some of the popular home video taping events like graduation. Not using the LCD sift helps, but I bought a camcorder with LCD screen...
An massive camcorder and VERY easy to take with you.
Martial with lots of research and my wife's two criteria for selecting a camcorder (it had to be small and easy to use) we bought the Elura MC 40 for its register of features in a very small and very cool package -- plus the canon quality. This one has all the features of a full-sized DV cam, but frenzy into a small, padded waist pack with a couple of tapes, batteries, and the charger without a puzzle. This was key as we are expecting our first child and didn't want to add too much to the extra baggage we'll be carrying. This one doesn't have megapixel stills at 1020x960, but it's still tons cured than 640x480 on most compact cams, and we have a 35mm for the serious photography anyway. Lots of great on-camera editing and shooting features, and some vital photo and movie editing software included. If you're going to do some serious movie editing, I'd promote purchasing a better software package or taking advantage of one of Canon's mail-in rake-off deals.Mac users, you'll love this...
A peerless camcorder...especially for the size
I bought this camcorder for a trek to Europe and I love it. I could store it in my jacket pocket when not using it and didn't have to drag around a enormous bag with a bunch of useless equipment. This is my first camcorder (and first camera since an old Olympus 35mm), so I'm clearly an amateur. It's got more features than I'll use in 2 lifetimes, so there should be enough to look after almost everyone. Video--is excellent, especially outdoors. Weather doesn't matter, as long as it's exterior. It was cloudy all but one day and the video is awesome. Indoor is grainy if the light is too low, but reading reviews of other camcorders, I couldn't find one which said "noteworthy video quality indoors." All are grainy indoors. Live with it. You buy this for the size. Still Pix--are not capacious. But are you buying a camcorder or camera? If all you care about are still pix, save yourself a few hundred bucks and buy a still-camera. No small camcorder offers a 4 or 5 megapixel...
