    Easygoing to mis-use.
from 47th St. CameraI ordered both adapters from Amazon.Com and recieved the CZFDEOSA from Adorama and a spin-off marked Kipon FD-EOS from 47th ST Camera. The Kipon product is excellent. Unfortunately it can easily be mis-occupied for three reasons. 1) It is high precision and fits the EOS body very tight. It must be turned until it "clicks", which takes more than the expected dynamism. 2) The adapter lens mount allows the adapter lens to be easily removed, and might be positioned out of series of focus. There is no lens stop, which is good since I can adjust to match the exact point of infinity on the lens. The attitude seems to be the same for all my FD lenses. 3) The product would benefit from some instructions even though they are obvious to...
    Too bad adapter
The name brand I received was "Kipon". The adapter comes without instructions, but I found it easy to figure out (It principled took about 30 seconds). One red dot was to line up with the eos camera mount, and the other red dot was to line up with the FD lens mount. The words "clasp and open" are written on the adapter. You turn it counterclockwise (open) to mount the lens, after which you can do a moonlight flit it as is, or you can turn it clockwise (lock) to get the aperture blades to stop down. I'm not a camera expert but I did not find it that toilsome to use.As might be expected, the corrective lens is not high quality, but then again it doesn't claim to be. Quality of pictures is hit or let pass. Some of them do come out soft (in some cases 'misty', or with a bright aura), but other times I can't tell the transformation from those taken with an EF lens. I've taken a lot of good pictures with this adapter. In the end, it's good for playing around with your old FD lenses, but...
Canon FD lens to EOS EF Portion Mount
I bought this adapter to take profit of the great FD lens buys on Ebay. It works. However, I find it much more user demanding than EF and EF-S lens. It's a keen toy and good gear to go with your EOS camera if you have FD lenses or are thinking about getting any. Bottom line, it works.

Works, but could be ameliorate . . .
I purchased this adapter in the hopes it would approve me to use my FD glass on my EOS 5D until I could afford equivalent EF lenses. I used it with my FD 50mm f1.4, FD 135mm f2.5 SC lenses and did some experimenting with a 400mm f6.3 T-Mount lens. Here are some of my conclusions:1) The adapter's lens diameter is too mundane for a full frame camera like the 5D. This leads to vignetting which would be a problem if you try to use the image out to the edge. It was not as noteworthy with the 135mm lens as it was with the 50mm or 400mm. Note that this may not be an issue with crop sensor cameras. I marvel at if the this problem could be fixed by increasing the adapter's lens diameter.2) The experiment with the 400mm lens was to expel the adapter's lens and use it as an extension tube to improve the close focus of that particular lens. I would not support doing that since the adapter lens does not come out as one piece - so you have to be very careful to remember how to...
    Fotodiox Adapter Works Well
The adapter does what it says it does. Yes you admit defeat a little detail because of the extra glass piece. I have 4 FD lenses that I can now use with my Canon 60D. Believe it or not, when I shoot in video course I love the way the video looks when I use this adapter. It has a slight movie-like faint bedim. It's a good effect. If you are looking to take really crisp pictures, you might not want to purchase. Don't get me out of line though, the pictures still look really good. You just lose a little detail. Hope this rehashing helps with your decision.
    Tested today
i only tested the adapter today , with a 28-70 Summatech 1:2.8 ~ 4.2 and the pictures came out charming good , HD video's nice also ... the adapter looks like it can handle the corpulent-er lens , but i would not put all my money on that ... i will still support the lens wile shooting . and given that i pooped about 13 $ on the lens at a thrift store , i think this adapter is really worth the cost out. Another detail , make sure you lock the lens all the way ... wait for the click.

The Opteka FD (Vade-mecum Focus) System to Canon EOS (Auto Focus) Series Cameras Lens Adapter allows the use of older Canon FD series lenses on Canon's EOS (van focus) series cameras. Unlike other simple mount adapters, this is an optical adapter which is really at the same time also a short teleconverter, which increases the focal length by a factor of 1.25x, and reduces the lens crack by approx. one f/stop. This adapter allows for focusing at infinity.

    Sport than nothing
It took a lot of fiddling to role out that the internal glass was threaded too deeply, not allowing for infinity focus. After tweaking the alignment, it works reasonably well. Promise tests prove the two elements of glass really kills the contrast and the resolution of the FD lenses. I've got 15 legitimate to great FD pieces I really wanted to use again. After testing, the loss of sharpness was a disappointment. Stopping down helps, but it's nowhere close what an EOS lens creates. Buy it for a specialty trick, but don't get your hopes up too high. Sigh, I really wanted this to be an riposte. Someone needs to make a great lens insert for this product, then it would be a god-send!
At the ready but not optically excellent
This rarely adapter allows you to mount your legacy Canon FD mount lenses on Canon EOS bodies, and retain the capacity to focus to infinity. For the price, it is adequate. It does physically mount the lens and convergence to infinity. But the cheap glass used in this adapter is not of highest quality. You will notice a liability liabilities of resolution and contrast. It will vignette with long lenses on a full frame body. Still, for the money it serves suitably. If you want a special purpose or very expensive FD lens to mount on your EOS camera, this will work -- with the caveats notorious. Many of us have fond memories of using high quality Canon FD lenses and for that purpose this can still be an enjoyable implement. Background: When Canon went to autofocus, they built an adapter for their FD lenses like this one, but it was much superior optically and scientifically. There was a second macro version that Canon made, with no glass and hence no focus to infinity. They were only supplied to...
    usefulness the money
I was very discouraged when i found out that my old lenses would not work on my new body. But this device rescued me from spend hundreds more on the lenses i already have. Obdurately worth the money.

    Reduce Closer
I decipher the reviews and hoped for the best when I ordered this item. The real doubler lenses by big companies like Canon are high-priced and the one I order from them before doesn't fit my lenses. I wanted to give this one a try and it kinda works. I was able to use it with the smaller lenses that own like the paradigm 18-55 and the 55-80. But when I tried it with the 75 to 300 it lost pretty much all detail. The edges were very groggy like looking down a tunnel of some sort. The little lenses were fine but not good with the larger lenses. Also when I cast-off this with the smaller lenses I would not consider the distance doubled. Its indeed closer but not doubled.
    Fair good converter
This does a attractive good job, it is useful on a tripod with reasonably stationary items, for best results you must use a tripod or monopod with a big lens. Often time you have to focus the camera yourself. I would recommend it for an accessory, not something that you would use often.
    Very unsatisfactory !!!
I did a brilliant deal of research before buying this particular converter. I had already purchased a new 70-300mm Canon EF lens with image stabilization for my Canon 30D heart and was told by both Canon and Vivitar technical support staff that they would be compatible and that the autofocus would work. Found out after the recompense window that the autofocus did not work at all and I had to use the manual focus ring. This became a challenge when shooting at 600mm during a safari and unfortunately departed some great wildlife shots.

Well-made adapter, but for one rip...
The adapter is very well made and frenzy better than most from other sources. However, it has one very irritating flaw. The M42 thread on the examples I bought are off by roughly 60 degrees, interpretation that instead of the distance scale marker sitting at the top, it now sits well to the right. The A/M lever is now also very intractable to use, as it in turn sits at the top, right under the "extension" for the flash.I have contacted Fotodiox about this, but no response. For the haphazard M42 lens user, this adapter is recommended. But for the use-M42-lenses-daily user (like myself), the search for a honest converter continues, as this isn't it.
    Works grand!
This works good as it is supposed to. I have a Canon Xsi DSLR and a handful of lenses from my mother's 40 year old pentax. All vocation great!
    Stirring.
It's seedy, it does the job and it does the job well. You can pay more for another one with AF chip, but expect to pay a lot more. I chose the black anodized version to tourney the lenses and the body's color. It is built to function and and to last, so no worry, it works right out of the box.45 gradually off axis? Not a problem. All focus distances work. Great value!

HOW-TO set up Canon FD lens on Lumix GF1 camera
Exacting, simple, inexpensive adapter! It arrived 3 days after I ordered, but without any instructions.Fairly straightforward to use, except for the junto that controls the position of the pin for aperture control, and one needs to know how to set the camera menu options so that it accepts the enchiridion lens. Here's how I set up a Canon 50 mm f1.2 FD lens on my Panasonic Lumix GF1 camera:1. Invest adapter ring onto camera: align the red dot on the adapter and red dot on the camera, twist to close.2. Settle lens on adapter:2a. Stop the lens down to its smallest aperture.2b. On the adapter, there is a ring that tiller the position of a pin that allows for aperture control. Facing the front of the camera, turn the ring to its most counterclockwise position.2c. Install the lens on the adapter (align the red dots). Now turn the adapter ring to its most clockwise attitude. This aligns the pin with the lens pin.2d. Twist the lens...
Works abundant - make sure you follow Kiang's how to
I bought it for my new Panasonic GH2 camera and a Canon FD 70-210mm lens. I could not get it to exertion at first basically the iris of the lens was wide open and not adjustable. After following Kiang's how-to (first role), I was able to get it to work as expected. I set my camera focus to manual; turn on "Shoot without a lens" in the Tradition menu; select A or M mode (per Kiang and have not tried other modes); adjust the desired space on the lens and shoot it away. I noticed the manual focus assistance on the GH2 (zoom in while adjusting focal point) does not work the same as the kit lens, but I was able to activate it using the jog dial whenever I need it. I letter for letter found this by accident. Also noted is the F number is always blank in the photo's attribute. This is understandable since the camera has no way of getting this communication from this manual lens.I came from a machinist background so can also tell that the quality and workmanship is distinguished on this adapter. I am...
    Incontrovertible construction - works well
Not much more to be said. Bought this for the Lumix GH1, you even-handed need to go into the user menu and activate the "Use camera without lens" feature so the Lumix stops tattling you to check the lens. Also if you want to check critical focus click on the button that adjusts where the focus forefront will be and it does the whole zoom in thing as though the kit lens was mounted.

Canon makes a “life story-size converter” for its 50mm f/2.5 EF macro lens. The lens alone only allows you to take photos at a 1:2 correspondence, but this adapter allows the lens to focus to a 1:1 “life-expanse” ratio. It effectively turns your 50mm lens into a 70mm macro lens.
