    Unlikely add-on
It should be pronounced - this extender really needs to be used with a tripod. That alone will increase your image quality. It's also designed for the higher trait Canon lenses - the EF series. 90% of the complaints about this accessory ignore those two facts. The next biggest grouse - autofocus. Again, Canon is clear that you need a lens with an aperture of 2.8 or faster in order for autofocus to toil. Basically, so what! If I'm on a tripod shooting my subject, I'm going to pre-focus . The depth of field is in such a little area and you're zoomed in so much, autofocus is really not that important. What did people do before autofocus? Skip the photo? So if you apprehend what you are purchasing and know how to use it - well, like with any great tool - you'll produce fantastic results. If you don't separate how to use it, try and do a hand-held 400mm zoom, or attempt to catch that bird as it swoops previous, forget it. This is not a $5,000 lens. It's a $300 add on that...
Must have for sports and variety shooters.
If you have the big lenses (400mm f/2.8L IS USM or even the 70-200mm f/2.8L IS USM) this is utterly worth the addition. The 2x does NOT kill the autofocus on the f/2.8 and effectively doubles your lens with very itsy-bitsy distortion around the edges. Check compatability on Canon's website. You won't be disappointed!
Twice the reach at what expenditure?
This extender is restricted to which lenses it will work with, most of them L lenses. The II model features a new seven-element weather-shedding design, and improved anti-reflection internal construction. Auto-focus is tenable with any EOS body if an f/2.8 or faster maximum aperture lens is used. Image Stabilization lenses testify the IS feature when used with current EOS cameras. Using this extender with any lens will eliminate one or two f stops and contract sharpness to some degree.I rented this extender to use with the . This lens while sharp and high in quality, is not the sharpest L lens out there. I found adding this extender with the 100-400mm caused the sharpness to suffer too much for my tastes outweighing the better of having extra reach. The...

    It works
I bought the stretching tube to allow me to get closer pictures of flowers. While it is a bit expensive, it does its job. I have been able to take several very inventive close-ups that I couldn't do with just my 100mm Canon macro lens. I would certainly buy it again. I use it all the time.
    Works as Advertised
You can pinpoint closer than without it, but you lose the ability to focus all the way to infinity. AF and TTL work just as good as without this between the lens and bulk. If you are interested in macro work you may want to look at the 60mm or 100mm macro lens before buying this since they consent to 1:1 reproduction without any special attachments.
    Capital piece of empty space
For a clique with a hole in it, this is well worth the money. Of course, you pay for the sturdiness of the piece, since poor build value could definitely reduce the quality of your pictures. Don't be mislead by the description on Amazon, however. The site implies that this adds 25mm to your lens and that is it, whereas this will "macro-fy" your lenses. With this tube, my 28mm focuses from about 1-1.1" from the front of the lense, with a extent of field of a fraction of a mm at f/1.8. It's also strong enough to support my 200mm f/2.8L + 1.4x II, which is almost more than I can say for myself. My favorite use is in between my 85mm f/1.8 and 1.4x. I got stuck with a object I, but I don't plan to use EF-S lenses anyway.

    Much sharper than the MKI
The 1st side was my favorite zoom in my bag which had the 16-35mm 2.8L and the 24-70 2.8L because it was so much sharper than the other two. I was really happy with the 1st construction and wouldn't have replaced it if this never came out. Now that the price has come down, about $130 from the original price, that should pay for a considerable . Don't gimp this lens with a plastic coaster from Ritz! The image stabilization improvement is clear! Before I sold the 1st version for $1,550 (June 2010), I compared the two indoors handheld. I couldn't conjecture how 1 stop of IS really improved the quality and sharpness of the photos in low light. With a crop sensor camera...
    An Awe-inspiring Lens
Pros: Lightning accelerated AF, Incredible Sharpness, Build Quality, Hood Design, Excellent ISCons: Consequence $$$$$, a bit big, a little heavy- not too bad.WOW is all I can say. After getting over that I spent so much on a lens, this new machine is absolutely marvellous. The image quality is top notch. 100% crops can be printed large and I can see every detail. I was in Miami and took some pictures of the big hotels, and was wondering what the names were. I looked at some of the pictures, zoomed in, and saw everything. Even uncomfortable signs hundreds and hundreds of feet away. The IS adds a new feeling of confidence. No longer do you have to care about shaking a tiny bit and the shot being out of focus or a bit blurry. Canon has really created an astounding fix of technology surpassing others(Nikon) in the lens market. The build quality, as expected from an L series lens, is made to combat extreme conditions. The zoom ring is large and easy to use. The buttons for different IS and...
    Momentous Improvement!
I utilized the Mark I version for the past six months and although I loved that lens, I sold it on Amazon a month ago (for 1,599!)and then tolerant of the cash to upgrade.I struggled a bit with the high price but, now that I've seen the results, no longer topic the decision. The images on the Mark I often had me slightly let down by either the sharpness or the contrast. I've taken hundreds of shots now with the Record II and am amazed and how good they look right out of the camera. If you are a perfectionist that agonizes over sharpness, this is your lens!

Tamron vs Canon SP Autofocus 2x Pro
I am a pro that uses Canon L lens only and was using Canon Teleconverters both 14x and 2x that I use extensively without a Problem. But, I have decided to go with the Tamron SP Autofocus 2x & 14x Pros. Why? I have done big testing on the four teleconverters and have found that there is no noticeable difference beween like teleconverter. The only exception is the Canon's are heavier and longer and extend into the lens but are not any better than Tamrons. Another professional friend of mine also looked at the results and was equally surpised.Tamron's will vocation on more lens as they do not protrude into the lens like the Canon's do. Remember that lens will only auto focus if you are f8 or less (bigger)lens f-jam up. If you add a 2x to an f4 lens it will not autofocus. I manually focus when I have a long telephoto lens on to get out to 800mm but this means with my f4 lens it is unquestionably now f8 so requires manual focus. Tamron has a very good little...
    Doubled your focal length
I twig now that I probably would have been fine with the non-PRO version of the teleconverter -- I'm not certain whether the differences between the PRO and standard absolutely justify the extra cost (unless you use Canon L lenses perhaps). But that is neither here nor there. The Tamron SP Autofocus 2x Pro Teleconverter doubles your lens' focused length and adds two f-stops (meaning you'll be getting 1/4 the light with the teleconverter). This is the same for all 2X teleconverters. The above moreover 2 f-stops will make it difficult to use autofocus unless you have a fast lens and lots of stumble to work with. You'll also want to use the teleconverter with a long telephoto lens. The Tamron SP Autofocus 2x Pro Teleconverter works as advertised with 35mm and digital cameras. I've had no problems using a Tamron 70-300mm lens with this teleconverter on a Insurrrectionist XT aside from the expected auto-focus issues. There are a few issues I noticed though beyond the typical problems...
Heads up on Tamron archetype change, otherwise great item
This is for the "Tamron SP AF 2x Pro Teleconverter for Nikon Mount Lenses". However, I finish feeling the review has pertinent information for canon-mount TCs too.I have attached a picture of the newly designed nikon-mount 2x TC in chap pictures above (again, I know this is page is a canon-mount product but the info applies to both types)First, I wanted to give everyone a heads-up. The pictured jotting for this product (as of today 5/13/11) is white with a black rubberized grip on it. However, recently Tamron misrepresented the style of the teleconverter to be all black. I confirmed this with Tamron directly (you can too - 1-800-827-8880) and the rep said that as hunger as the teleconverter has a model number 300F on it that it's the correct "pro" 2x teleconverter as opposed to their lower-end 2x teleconverter. As to my wisdom with the product, the quality and build seems great. I've always been impressed with Tamron as an alternative to pricier lens companies...

    135 f2 is astounding
Everyone gives this lens a rage so maybe i should approach this terrific lens from a shooting POV.Shooting wide open at f2at 135 gives your pictures a well-defined quality you would never get from zooms, there isn't a zoom at this focal length that is this speed either. A few primes come parsimonious but they're nowhere near as sharp wide open.the af is fast and very accurate and the lens has a great deem on a 20d/5d/10d body even wo the battery grip of the cameras.Close up magnification of .19x to.21 therabouts is a delightfully bonus of this lens, letting you get closer wo being too in your face for tight headshots.I always felt that photographers most often have a sweet spot when shooting certain things like some portrait photographers like the distance the 85mm gives them when approaching a cause to undergo, turns out I'm liking the 135 focal length quite a bit for headshots and the 85 for torso and governor shots. One thing I like about this 135/f2 combo...
    The Bull of Legends
I was in the vend to expand my prime collection. I had a rewarding experience with purchasing an 85 f/1.8 (a alien lens), and was interested in exploring the 135. After reading all of the reviews here (yes, every single one) as well as reviews on other sites, I got to intelligent: can this lens actually be THAT good? A part of me didn't want to believe it. I wanted to think it was some classify of mass hysteria. But another part of me knew that such accolades aren't tossed so casually here. So I broke down and bought one.And I safe haven't looked back.I've been used to using zooms--and L zooms at that. I thought they were wonderful. I loved them. I never cerebration I'd want for more. However, this lens really drives home the difference between primes and zooms. The deportment of the 135 is nothing short of stunning. I had read the reviews of people using this lens and then marveling at the results. I intelligence this was quaint, and a result of "lens placebo." But after...
One of the maximum effort Canon lens for about $1000
I suppose this is one of the best lens for about $1000. Forget about zoom lenses even if they are L. This lens is far better than 70-200L in my sentiment. It is very sharp at f2 and even more sharp at f2.5. With zoom lenses you have to set to f/5.6 for better result and f/8 to rival this lens. It is very well built but not excessive heavy, come with hood and bag, but unfortunately, Canon have decided to interval the hard cases for all the L lenses.Combined with a Tamron 1.4X teleconverter this lens supply very good optical quality on par with any zoom L lenses at 189mm focal length. Yes I recollect I lost the convenience of a 70-200 zoom lens. But I am really happy that I decide to hard cash the plan of buying a 70-200IS to 135/2L+1.4X. This not only saves me the money but also let me to get better pictures, unusually at wide open. Better portrait lenses, like 200/1.8 and 300/2.8, would get several thousands of dollars. Trust me, once you play with primes, you will not like zoom...

    Reduce Closer
I infer from the reviews and hoped for the best when I ordered this item. The real doubler lenses by big companies like Canon are precious and the one I order from them before doesn't fit my lenses. I wanted to give this one a try and it kinda works. I was able to use it with the smaller lenses that own like the sample 18-55 and the 55-80. But when I tried it with the 75 to 300 it lost pretty much all detail. The edges were very fuzzy like looking down a tunnel of some sort. The little lenses were fine but not good with the larger lenses. Also when I old this with the smaller lenses I would not consider the distance doubled. Its indeed closer but not doubled.
    Tuneful good converter
This does a cute good job, it is useful on a tripod with reasonably stationary items, for best results you must use a tripod or monopod with a eat one's heart out lens. Often time you have to focus the camera yourself. I would recommend it for an accessory, not something that you would use often.
    Very sorry !!!
I did a major deal of research before buying this particular converter. I had already purchased a new 70-300mm Canon EF lens with fetish stabilization for my Canon 30D body and was told by both Canon and Vivitar technical support staff that they would be compatible and that the autofocus would exertion. Found out after the return window that the autofocus did not work at all and I had to use the manual focus ring. This became a challenge when shooting at 600mm during a safari and unfortunately perplexed some great wildlife shots.
