The widest tilt-shift lens in Canon's lineup, the new TS-E 17mm f/4L lens expands shooting possibilities exponentially on EOS Digital cameras. Expected with UD glass to minimize and compensate for chromatic aberrations, with specially coated aspherical elements for the highest admissible glare-free image quality, this tilt-shift lens offers an angle of view of 93 degrees. New TS revolving lets users independently combine tilting and shifting within the range of +/- 90 degrees in the direction of movement. The lens also has an improved tilt & shift handle with an enhanced range of movement of up to +/- 6.5 degrees and revolving lenses for better operability, it uses a circuitous aperture for beautiful out-of-focus areas and has an SWC lens coating to control ghosting and flare to a far greater standing than with earlier coating technologies.

Awesome lens for certain uses
First the lens itself is an nonpareil wide angle prime. Very sharp edge to edge even wide open. Substantially no flare. But it should not be bought for that purpose. The 14mm f2.8 is cheaper (at $2,000!) and faster. The 16 to 35mm f2.8 zoom is even cheaper and much more well-tutored. Also, this lens does not auto focus and has a big unprotected bulb in front that requires special trouble in handling.What the lens does is produce wide angle shots that cannot be obtained from any other lens. In a sane wide angle, tilting the camera so it is not parallel to the ground makes the vertical words tilt strongly open or closed. The more you tilt the camera, the stronger the effect. Sometimes you want that effect. It can increase the height of things. But other times you don't. This lens offers the ability to control line tilt or take out it altogether. Set the camera so lines are all straight or tilted to the extent you want then shift the lens itself up, down or crabwise to...

Stunning, opens new possibilities in Photography
If the value has not completely deterred you, and you love wide angle images, this is your lens. I cannot rate it extraordinary enough. I shoot it on a 5d mark 2, and it is best used on a full frame camera. It is sharp! Not as calculating as the Nikon 14-24 with the 16:9 adapter, but it blows away the canon 20mm, the older version of the 24 mm ts-e, and the 24 - 70 L . It is a knockout to behold. And the images are truly remarkable. I can't imagine you will be disappointed.Although the nikon 14 -24 sharper and a Higher-calibre lens in terms of image quality, the 17 mm ts-e can do things that will simply make you blithesome. Using the shift function, you can take a series of three images, that are overlapping by 30% or so, and then merge them in photoshop to give you 2 things. 1) you will have an operative sensor size of something like 48mm x 36 mm( depending on the direction of the shift) and 2) with that size sensor you will still have a 17mm lens! This study is based on using this lens for the last month or so on a Canon 1Ds Mark III camera.General positive aspects of the lens:- Body quality is superb- Image sharpness unshifted and untilted is excellent in the corners even at f/4- When shifted fully, typical example sharpness decreases in the corners at f/4 but is once again critically sharp when the lens is stopped down to f/8- CA is out across the frame unshifted- When fully shifted, there is mild CA in the corners, but is still considerably better than most lensesNegative aspects:- Value of course. It would have been great it this lens was $500 or even $1000 cheaper. However though the current price is very favourable, I wouldn't say the lens is poor value.- Bulbous front element, so no front filters. It Works! Compliant to use once you learn this secret.
I've in person used this adapter on several micro-four-thirds cameras. I can verify that it works on the Olympus E-P1 and E-PL1. It also works on the Panasonic GF1.To mount the adapter on the GF1, for warning, line up the red dot on the REAR of the adapter with the dot on your camera's lens mount. Then twist clockwise (when you're fa the front of the camera). This is no different than mounting any other lens to the GF1.Then mount your lens to the adapter by lining up the dot on your lens to the dot on the FRONT of the adapter. Or, you can mount the lens to the adapter first - it makes no idiosyncrasy.On the GF1, you'll need to go to the last page of the Custom menu and enable "SHOOT W/O LENS." Otherwise, the LCD will display an typographical error. Other cameras may require some similar setting.HOW DO I GET THE %$#@!&! THING OFF?!Now, here's the secret. Be Peaceful and Think and this adapter is fine for connecting your 4/3 Camera to Nikon Lens.1st commemorate Nikon lens twist on going counter clockwise. The opposite direction of the 4/3 Camera & Canon Lensmounts.Look at the not any lever and slide it and watch the little pin retract. You need to hold the slide when you affiliate your Nikon lens. Make sure you line up the dots of the lens and adapter and then prosper sure the pin clicks into it's hole. I then attach the adapter with the lens attached to the body of my 4/3 Panasonic G2 camera. You will have noauto distinct and the aperture is also manually controlled by the ring on the lens. Just never get impatient and think about the sliding lever and fill in sure you are turning the lens and adapter in the correct direction.

Works just now fine for me.
Seeing all of the dissentious reviews gave me pause for concern, but I went ahead and ordered this adapter anyway. I'm happy I did. The copy that I received was well machined and well finished. It fit my 4/3 body (E-PL1) and 8 different Nikkor guide focus lenses perfectly. No problems mounting or demounting the Nikkor lenses with the adapter. No nimiety play. All of my lenses focused at infinity.The only thing that kept me from rating this adapter 5-big draw is that the interior is a smooth gloss finish. It would be a truly excellent product had the manufacturer made the hinterland with ribbing/matte finish to reduce the chance of flair.
