Update: Since my review article the Flip Mino has been greatly improved. It now works and plugs in perfectly to my Mac and has stereo sound. This Flip MinoHD camcorder is surprising-- the ideal thing for any family hoping to videotape the kids, friends, events, etc. First of all, it's fully idiot proof: when you get the box, there is absolutely no assembly required. Your first guess about which buttons are the power shift, record button, and USB connector release will be correct; great intuitive design. The contrivance looks and feels great (as other reviewers have mentioned) and easily fits in your hand richly for long periods of time (unlike my blackberry). It turns on and off instantly (unlike my family computer or cell phone) so you don't have to wait long to start recording that precious, fleeting interest.The screen is a bit larger than the previous Flip Mino, but that's not a big deal. Image quality is better than ever, and not too unsound/bouncy. Flip Ultra HD vs. Flip MinoHD
I once upon a time owned the Flip MinoHD so this review is based on a comparison between the Flip MinoHD and the new Flip UltraHD.After reading about the Flip UltraHD's addition of an HDMI achievement, larger screen, and longer battery life I decided to sell my 4 month old Flip MinoHD and advantage the Flip UltraHD. Since the MinoHD is very sleek and diminutive in size, my first reaction to the UltraHD was that it was quite a bit larger and bulkier to keep off, and has taken some time to get used to. However, unless you've used a MinoHD the larger size of the UlraHD will all things considered be less noticeable. I found the camera controls on the UltraHD to be slightly easier to operate vs. the touch sensitive buttons on the MinoHD. I have been a Flip camera consumer since they released the first gen. Flip Mino HD (not the new metallic model). I loved the camera. For what I needed it for it was everything I wanted. However like ever offshoot not everyone is going to love it one hundred percent. I did find a few faults with the my Mino HD.#1 - I thought the camera was a little to little and felt very flimsy in my hand. My hand shaking seemed to be amplified by the very small flimsy sensitivity camera in my hand.#2 - The touch sensitive controls were not that sensitive and pressing the controls caused the camera to wavering and jerk.But for the most part loved the sound and thought the picture was great.Soon the Flip Ultra HD came out and I had to have it. Tenderness at first Flip
This is my first video camera of any style, and I am totally in love. I'm a bit technologically challenged, and so was pleasantly surprised to discover that the "set up" of this camera was easier than stage set the time on my sports watch, and consisted only of scrolling through the date and time. Within thirty seconds of turning on the camera, I was in proper shape to begin shooting my first movie clip. Unlike the digital point-and-shoot cameras I have owned, the menu and functions on this camera are totally intuitive. In no time at all, I had figured out how to start, stop, delete, replay, and scroll through my first few big clips. I also needed no direction to view and maneuver the clips in wide-screen playback set-up, and could therefore offer instant gratification to my children, who eagerly awaited the opportunity to see and hear themselves on integument.
