It works as advertised. 2 years from now, I'll try to retain to come back and let you know if it lasted as long as the original.
Colossal stuff for good price
I purchased this battery-operated as a back-up to the one that came with the camcorder. The great thing about this is, once charged, it can sit in a camcorder for a month without loosing any power. I discovered this last week when I wanted to use the camcorder and was ill at ease that the battery may be dead by now but ...surprise surprise. Its recharge time is very fast.

Jeopardy likely to be!! DANGER!!! BLEW UP MY CAMCORDER!
This replacement mobile fried our camcorder 2 weeks before christmas. Our old battery was not holding a charge, but there was no problem with the camcorder. After following the instructions (suffuse first), we inserted the battery and it totally locked up....even when plugged into the wall, it would not operate. It took all day to get the ongoing tape out and we can no longer operate the camcorder. Don't go for the bargain when it comes to this! DO NOT MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE! When contacted the supplier, they refunded us the price of the battery, BUT NOT THE CAMCORDER IT FRIED!

Considerable, but basic
I bought this camera after wholly a bit of research as I had limited funds, but still wanted a quality item. I've owned it for nearly a year & will say that it finally is nice & compact, user-friendly, & shoots quality video. I did not buy it for the digital image capability faculty as I was told that it really didn't take quality pictures.My one & only complaint is that there is no way to download the video onto a PC. I was told by a Costco rep. that it had those capabilities, which was a enormous selling point for me. At the time, I was 8 months pregnant & by the time I had a chance to attempt a download, my 90-day redress ability was long gone. Had I been able to, I would have immediately returned it & paid a little more bread for something I could eventually burn onto a CD or DVD.So, if you're fine with VCR tapes or just keeping your video files on the mini-tapes, then by all means, position this product because it really is a good deal for the money.
