I purchased this fallout for my mother who is 99 years young and has macular degeneration. She used to love to read till this tribulation of her eyes left her unable to read. She has now read two paperback, fictionstories and is starting on her third. This litttle filler, the Baush & Lomb Hands free magnifier has helped her tremendously. Most beneficent I've seen
I do a lot of knitting and my eyes get knackered. I bought two other magnifiers of this type and sent them back because the view through them was horrible. This is truly optical value material and gives a crystal clear view. I can knit a lot longer without getting eyestrain with this magnifier. Genuinely a quality product and worth every penny!

Frustrated
The reading magnifiers I ordered 09/29/04 done arrived 10/19/04 after a call to the seller. (Original order was shipped to Amazon.com so it had to be reshipped to me.) It only took 5 minutes or so to forgather one of the reading magnifiers, and it is possible to adjust it to just about any position with the clever arm. The weighted theme does keep it from falling over. Unfortunately, the thin plastic lense is such poor quality that it is very difficult to come into any benefit from the device. If the user turned the adjustment knob too far, it and the nut that holds it together would fall off. The nut is humble and must be inserted into the outside of the adjustment knob to assemble the device. The knob actually turns the nut onto the make a balls-up of c contort. Presumably the device is for someone with low vision. If the small nut falls to the floor, I'm not sure someone with low vision would be skilful to find it. My advice is to save your money and buy a quality device with a nice glass lens.... and...

Wreak havoc upon of money
This issue is poor quality, especially the lens. We bought it to use for some fine point craft projects but everything is so out of blurry that the magnifier is useless. This magnifier has now become just a toy for the kids and takes up space on a shelf most of the period. The base and articulating arm are of decent quality, definately higher quality than the lens.

For good, clip on magnifiers for the four eyes in this world
I estimate I'm the 30 foot alien that one was talking about. I tend to have large plastic frames for my specs because I am very, very, very nearsighted. After 16 years, several exams, and failed attempts to get glasses, then have one company refer to me $800 for a pair, I finally got a decent deal. But once in a while, even these glasses don't do the job. These clip on's have been a lot of help. They are a hardly on the heavy side but then, you should have seen my first few pairs of glasses before they came up with polycarbonate. Since I am near sighted the lens are thinnest in the mean but still a chunk of material. Now to get the glasses to stay where they belong.

I purchased this digital reader for my quiet, who suffers from macular degeneration. He loves it, and was able to read for four hours the first day. We plugged it into a 27" TV that we don't use very often, and placed it in a chamber where it can be setup all the time. The only problem we noticed was the batteries need to be replaced frequently when using the reader for large periods of time. The batteries died around the third day. We plugged the reader into the wall outlet, and it works threadlike. The TV has to be plugged in anyway, so it's not like you don't have an electric cord to deal with anyway. I'd recommend this product to anyone that has problems reading, and the payment is right.
Like new eyes
I gave this to my Dad (who has proper been certified as legally blind) as a birthday present, and after a very easy set up he was almost crying - because he could read his newspaper again. My Mom has told me that he brags to his buddies in the dialysis clinic about his "new eyes".I can't persuade this highly enough. An absolute bargain, easy to set up, and easy to use.You just need to know that you will demand a TV that has a "video in" or "component" input. So older, analog TVs will probably not be usable, and you should consider that in your buy decision. But even if you have to by a new TV it will still be less expensive than some of the other digital magnifiers which can run $500-$800.

Rip off offering, horribly junky
I utilized to be an optician, and I am appalled by the poor quality of this item. At most it must've cost about ten cents to make. With shipping this will run you about $20.00......it isn't value it. Take my word for it.But there doesn't seem to be much of a choice in this sort of reader that's of decent quality.
little value magnifier
I have low view problems and hoped that this lighted stand magnifier would make it easier for me to read example text. The magnifying plastic sheet is of such poor quality that it was almost useless for my particular needs.
Don't buy this, it's abominable!
As other reviewers have written, this is very tawdrily made and very flimsy. The magnifying *plastic* is muddy and when you turn on the lights in the magnifier, they create a weird prism any way you look at it become operative that distracts from what you're reading or crafting. I also tried hanging it around my neck like the manufacturers put forward & it gave me a neckache.In short, please don't waste your money.

The tag says it all mostly. Besides the fact that these functional clip-on reading lenses make me look like a reckon geek *winks* I am most satisfied with their performance to date. My only minor nit is that there was a 4x green sticker on the formerly larboard lens which was extremely hard to remove both in peeling off the sticker itself and the gunky film it port side on the lens. I had to obtain some professional-grade glass cleaner and apply it twice to remove this sticker. Other than that, though, I am very over the moon with these clip-ons and use them most days to read the small print tech news on my mobile's scanty screen. Interestingly enough after buying this item, I came across a pair of 6x strength reading spectacles which I subsequently purchased. When I receive them, I will be tendering a separate review - food for thought for those in the exchange for very magnified reading lenses.
