Save that Camera for the Investment
Those, this purchase came after 3 solid days of research using everything from Amazon, CNet, Infosyncworld, to YouTube. You are here, reading reviews, as I was at the inception of my search for a great quality digital camera that was neither high-end nor cheap. Let me begin by saying that I upright purchased this camera and have not gone over extensive testing myself, but rest assured that you should NOT take Amazon.com reviews for digital cameras (and a lot of other things for that matter) as the certainty. Unequalled Camera
Now I'm no past master photographer, but I am picky about how my pictures look. I have a good eye, and can be very anal about details in my photos. I've seen this camera get some bad reviews lately, and I am unqualifiedly perplexed by this. I looked at lots of other cameras. some costing more and some less. This was by far the best point and shoot satchel-able mega zoom out there, I thought. I read some negative reviews about sluggish focus and hazy images from here and from Best Buy's web site. I don't know if a bad batch of cameras went out? I did have some focus issues privilege out of the box when I started using the camera; but after inspecting the camera I noticed a nice big greasy punch a recall print right on the lens. The S9100 is the practised size and feel for a pocket camera. It looks to be all plastic, but the type of plastic and the supremacy of the build makes it look and feel like the best small cameras made these period. Startup time is about one second, and going from minimum zoom to maximum zoom takes about two seconds. Sculpture quality is very good for a camera with a 1/2.33-type sensor, but certain very fine ins and outs like hair, or a bird's feathers in a low-contrast part of the bird's body may be smeared a certain extent. This is apparently caused by the noise reduction software in the camera, which can't be turned down or off. On the other hand, my Canon SX-210 (which I replaced with the S9100) does not belittle noise much if at all, and the end result is a compromise between the two systems. I think the Nikon S9100 wins in that compromise though, since the images on norm look better than the SX-210's. Nikon Coolpix S8200, Big camera with a few design flaws
I only just received my Nikon Coolpix S8200 so my initial comments are admittedly based on just a couple of generation playing with the camera, however I noticed how few comments there were, so I thought prospective buyers of this camera should have some other feedback on which to base their purchase decision. First of all, the other reviewers are right about the placement of the flash technique. This is one of the few times that I have had a Nikon camera where so obvious an error in design was made. I have long fingers and you can learn over time, but it is baffling to hold the camera steady without overlapping the flash. I didn't however let this feature detract from the other terrific features. The quality of the pictures are exceptional indoors and out. loving terrible camera, what up with the flash?
I received my Nikon S8200 a few generation ago. It is wonderful; easy to use; fast; and did I say, fast. The CMOS screen is better than my Nikon SLR. Downloading the photos to my Nikon Grab NX2 software on my iMac 24" screen results in photos that are nearly as stunning as my Nikon SLR.My only grousing is the flash. Whoever decided to put the pop-up flash where it is either never uses a point-and-shoot camera or has little patchy toddler-sized hands. The flash pops up out of the camera right where your left indication finger rests. The first time I used it and the flash was required, the flash never came out fully as my fist index finger blocked it. The photo was lost.Warning for critical photo shoots: if you are hoping to get your young man's first step indoors where the flash will be required, be careful, you may loose the shot. Reasonable got my S8200 tonight and am still battling a bad cold, so I didn't really have a chance to take photos other than preferential my house (primarily of my dogs, bedroom, and small christmas tree.) I fitting bought this camera two days ago from a camera store (yes, of course it's cheaper here). I have four other cameras, two obscure (Nikons) and two digital (one Nikon and one Olympus), but I wanted something that I could fit in my purse or backpack. Sharp point and shoot for price, but has drawbacks
This is the first formerly that I bought something new on the market. Typically, I buy something after it has been reviewed for at least 6 months, but I had to replace the "family point and bud" before Easter. Terse but Capable
I owned the very correct Sony DSC-W350 (which I liked very much), but I managed to leave it in a rental car. Between the time I bought my Sony and now, Nikon released a new vanguard, so I figured I'd give one of their best compact point and shoot cameras a try. I use a lot of Nikon's DSLR equipment, but their point up-and-shoots have been a bit disappointing to me over the years. But I liked the S8000 and decided to give it a try - and I'm glad I did...it's a wonderful stress-and-shoot, even better than the Sony in every way.First, I place a lot of emphasis on the size and shape of the camera and whether it only just feels natural in my hands. The S8000 is very small and light, and sometimes really petite cameras fitting feel awkward to me. Credible Camera HUGE video flaw
I bought this camera because I wanted a camera that could both take favourable quality pictures of objects from a far away distance and took HD video. The Quality of the pictures of this camera are safe from a far distance. I could easily read signs when zoomed in that I could not read from looking at them. I am a structural conductor so I needed something that I could read the structure types and be able to idetify the structures from a distance, in this it did its job.Now the down side of the camera. The video dignity of the video was excellent as well as the sound. The HUGE overlooked flaw is that recording indoors or out there is a excessive pitched squealing noise in the backround of every video no matter if it was played on lcd, computer, tube tv, or the camera itself. I tried the camera instore and it did the same feeling (after I had taken it home and tested in depth). Cogent performance and beautiful outlook
After a few duration' research and testing between Canon S90 and Canon SX210 at 2 shops, I decided to get a Canon S90 for its wagerer image quality.But when I went to a third shop, aiming to get Canon S90, I was shown on the computer mask the 2 photos (jpeg) taken at the same place (indoor) a few seconds ago, one by S90 and one by Nikon S8000. The photo charmed by S8000 rendered the true colors, just as what I saw under the lighting, and the image did not have jagged edges as in Canon S80 when magnified at the computer. Then a several of shots confirmed that the noise control between the two were not as I expected. At least under ISO 400, Nikon S8000 photos did not require more noise than Canon S90. Actually, at ISO 125, I did observe that Nikon's resolution was better. And the LCD sieve resolution of Nikon was also higher than Canon S90. True, Canon S80 allowed one to take RAW images and enchiridion control, but I wanted a travel zoom camera and would not like to work with RAW...

A much needed repair of the coolpix range
I found the last contemporaries of coolpix cameras to be disappointing at best. This one however has received some massive improvements.1. It's very very fastIt is swift in all ways possible. The shutter response time in almost instantaneous. As soon as you click the handle the photo takes... give 1 additional second in poor lighting at worst. First-rate of all is the photo navigation. Remember those old coolpix commercials where Ashton Kutcher would flick his finger and all the photos would scroll by expeditious? That never worked before, but it actually does on this one. There is no lag whatsoever on photo viewing or changing settings.2. First Nikon Coolpix I've had
I have a few cameras: Olympus DLSR, Canon Powershot S3IS, and Panasonic Lumix (close). I've also owned Kodak digital easyshares and Pentax film camers.I've been power shopping the last few time for a good point and shoot for an upcoming trip I'm taking to CA. I'll be taking my Olympus DSLR, put basic a pocket camera for those times a DLSR isn't appropriate due to size.Having owned a Canon Powershot S3IS and an Olympus DLSR, I'm charming picky about image quality. So I brought home a Canon 1300 and a Nikon s4000 and compared photos in Photoshop. Hands down, Nikon s4000 won everytime. Indoor, open-air, flash, speed, ease of use, etc.This is an easty, point and shoot with great color and illustrate quality.I'd recommend it.The reason for the 4 stars instead of 5 is because of the way you have to charge the battery. The battery has to be charged while in the camera.

But Photos from this little point and shoot!
I've had a Nikon S510 a while back which I loved, and the Nikon S570 is even improve. I like vivid colors, and when set to "vivid", the Nikon S570 produces photos with beautiful fecund colors and excellent contrast. The wide angle lens has great edge to edge sharpness. The Nikon S570 performs well, in all probability not the fastest (shutter lag and start-up time), but good nonetheless. The only thing that it's really lallygagging in is the wait time between shots, which seems to be an eternity. I've missed a few shots waiting for the camera to be prepare for the next shot. Otherwise, I really love this camera. It's small and light enough to fit in you pocket, and it takes inordinate pictures. And for it's price, it's definitely a great buy.
Coolpix S570 Towering Value for everyday use
There are many most luxurious cameras in this category to select from, and all have Pro's and Con's that ultimately are reported in these user reviews. These are personal perception's, and mostely not scientific. This review for the Nikon S570 tells you why I chose this camera over the others.Since I was looking for a camera that was manageable and easy to use I chose to look at these "pocket" style cameras. Very "Chilled" little camera !!
I made this grip for my wife for christmas .Although I bought this some time ago she just opened it for Christmas and she LOVES it!very straightforward to use and the quality is great..very light very easy no problems what so ever .Her hobby is photography so she finds it very temperately to use and she knows her numbers and what to set it on so it is one nice little camera for when she dont want to lug around her bigger one. we have decipher reviews for this camera and we do not find anything wrong with it ..some say it is slow between shots .. My wife does not at all find this camera averse between shots..no way Some also say its blurry when you playback the photos.. Ours is not blurry at all and I played my photos back on my 32 inch HD TV..they separate out clear as a bell. But some people DO have that problem..here is a solution that my wife says to do....DO NOT in any way Change your photos from the camera..this could damage the memory chip...

My daughter has a Nikon Coolpix s220 and when you give back it on, it makes an odd sound and the lens moves in and out. There is also a "Lens Error!" message on the back screen. Is there an calmly fix to this problem? I know, its a long shot,
Sorry to determine you but the fix is far from easy. The camera has to be disassembled pretty extensively to fix a lens error. Repairs shops like to indictment high prices to fix those kinds of problems. You'd be better off buying a new camera.
