Cyclopean little Point-and-shooter
I was initially in to buy this camera since there were ZERO reviews to be found, either here at Amazon, or elsewhere on the internet. But, since I've owned two previous Nikon Coolpix cameras (an old 4 MP camera, and a extremely old 2 MP camera) and both were great, I wasn't too worried. And I was right to buy it: it is working great and taking weighty photos, after several days of playing around with it.First of all, it is very user-friendly. The menus and controls are completely second-sighted, and make sense even if you have not cracked open the manual. What a Grievous camera. I had been cursed with the kodak easy share (older model) for years now and no fact what, I could only take about 10 pics before the battery died. I love the Nikon its small- light weight and masterful fit for me! Im not a professional photographer but I can take some great pics with this camera. The options that the menue gives you for photos is fabulous! I would highley recomend this camera above kodak! They made everything VERY easy for inital set up also! Once I opend the package, did the camera set up, I was game to take pictures within 3 minutes (once I charged the battery fully which only took about 30 minutes). I bought this camera because I was successful on vacation and was tired of going places with an unreliable heavy camera and now feel so blessed to have this one! Nikon CoolPix S3000
Before I bought this camera I did a lot of experimentation on digital cameras. I narrowed it down to three brands. Canon, Nikon, and Sony. It took a very long yet to make a decision since I didn't want to buy crap. I eventually settled in the Nikon brand because I am very informal with its features and camera functions. I was replacing a cheaper older model of a Nikon Coolpix L10. So, I was certainly going spend a little over $100 for this camera, but then again cameras have come a long way since the 2007. A much needed rehabilitation of the coolpix range
I found the last start of coolpix cameras to be disappointing at best. This one however has received some massive improvements.1. It's very very fastIt is expeditious in all ways possible. The shutter response time in almost instantaneous. As soon as you click the knob the photo takes... give 1 additional second in poor lighting at worst. Finest of all is the photo navigation. Remember those old coolpix commercials where Ashton Kutcher would flick his finger and all the photos would scroll by devoted? That never worked before, but it actually does on this one. There is no lag whatsoever on photo viewing or changing settings.2. Tickety-boo photo qualityI was playing with this in best buy and it took very noticeably clearer photos than the other camera in the same value range... including the Canon powershots. First Nikon Coolpix I've had
I have a few cameras: Olympus DLSR, Canon Powershot S3IS, and Panasonic Lumix (concise). I've also owned Kodak digital easyshares and Pentax film camers.I've been power shopping the last few generation for a good point and shoot for an upcoming trip I'm taking to CA. I'll be taking my Olympus DSLR, put essential a pocket camera for those times a DLSR isn't appropriate due to size.Having owned a Canon Powershot S3IS and an Olympus DLSR, I'm rather picky about image quality. So I brought home a Canon 1300 and a Nikon s4000 and compared photos in Photoshop. Hands down, Nikon s4000 won everytime. Indoor, open-air, flash, speed, ease of use, etc.This is an easty, point and shoot with great color and duplicate quality.I'd recommend it.The reason for the 4 stars instead of 5 is because of the way you have to charge the battery. The battery has to be charged while in the camera.

Breathtaking camera
I am a experienced photographer and have been looking for a little point and shoot to carry around for convenience. I want calibre....but I do understand that any point and shoot is going to have some limitations. It's wonderful to be able to grab the camera and discharge away without having to worry about settings. The exposure compensation and scene modes will give you what you demand for everyday fun photos. I might even consider using this camera as a second camera for some of my professional photography. I dead beat quite a lot of time researching point and shoots. I have Nikon professional cameras, so I do lean a meagre toward Nikon. My daughter just purchased a pretty pricey Canon point and shoot..her pictures are below touchstone in my opinion compared to what I am able to capture with this little camera.Of course, you do have shutter lag....that's barely a point and shoot....For the money this is a great little camera. Thank you Nikon :-)

I ordered this camera because it wasn't that overpriced and I loved the color. The picture quality is better than I expected and I wanted a camera that had a video app as well. It works major, I would highly recommend this camera!

I passion this camera!
When I definitively made the leap from film to digital camera I searched for a long time for just the liberty camera for me. In fact I had another camera saved on my wish list so long that when I compared this camera to the saved one, this one had control superiors features on every point! I love the ease of just pointing and shooting and still getting wonderful pictures. I recently went to NYC and took a assortment of pictures and only had to delete one! Transferring pictures to my computer is also a breeze. I wholeheartedly recommend this camera to someone looking for an undemanding to use point and shoot camera that takes beautiful pictures!

As a somewhat cheap point-and-shoot camera, the Nikon Coolpix S550 is a pretty neat piece of components. It's certainly not a high-end DSLR, but it's good at what it does, and it offers some nice pluses over other cameras in its prize range.The good:-5x optical zoom is very good for a little camera like this, and is tops in this camera's classification. I would like to remind readers that "digital zoom" really just crops out part of a idea to make it look bigger in the viewfinder while destroying actual shot quality, so please pay little the "digital zoom" on this or any camera.-10megapixel resolution is pretty phenominal, principally in this camera's price range, especially coupled with the 5x zoom. Dollar-for-dollar, you're getting a lot.-Shutter and / speeds seem great. One problem, it comes with a rechargeable mobile# Li-ion EN-EL11 but...I can't find anyone who sells it yet (I like a backup battery).
