Not as described
I was uncommonly disappointed when I received this product. Had I not needed it to go out of town I would've returned it. The AC power adapter says Samsung on it so I am assuming it was for a chamber phone at one point. The USB cable is so short that the camera stands on end to reach a plug in. I have to defend it on the kitchen counter or on the floor to charge my camera.

L100 - Terrific Camera All Around, Especially for Beginners
After intercontinental research on advanced point-and-shoots that use AA batteries (something I require), I settled on three: the Nikon L100, the Canon Powershot SX10IS, and the Fujifilm s8100fd. So you certain the perspective from which this review is coming, I'm not an experienced photographer but I'm not clueless either. I on the whole purchased this camera because I love my smaller Nikon Coolpix 7600 but wanted something with more zoom. I've only had this camera for about a week, but its immense so far!I do see the "focusing problem" someone was talking about, but its not really a problem...Its just that you can't zoom in too closely on something if you are still close to it - I think this is because of the lens type - its for long distances. I sympathy I would emphasize the rechargeable battery since Nikon just added it recently and some reviewers were saying the L100 couldn't use a rechargeable battery. It's a NI-MH battery with recharger. Curb the NIKON webpage for the L100 and you will see it listed under "optional accessories". Personally, I don't like rechargeables because they capitulate their charge over time and you have to remember to recharge them when you get ready to use your camera. I'd much rather just pop in a set of alkaline AA's. Then battery fetch is about a penny a pic. I can afford that.Here are the reasons I bought this camera. I use it to do stop-motion shooting in the woods using toy deed figures, also on a copy stand to copy greaseboard drawings for animation, and just for encyclopaedic photo shooting. Edited Reconsider - Battery Door Problem
It is with bemoan that I must edit my review on the Nikon L24.Because of a weak design on the battery cover door I cannot recommend this camera. However, I am leaving the beginning review below this addition because everything I originally wrote about the operation still stands. The 1-star rating I'm now leaving reflects the unqualified for closure design and Nikon's refusal to replace the battery cover under warranty.The battery door cover on mine broke nothing but like the others who have written about the L20 / L24 series Nikon cameras. My defect made itself known to me after 6 months of use. There was never any berating, no drops, no bumps, camera was kept in a case except when I was taking or transferring pictures.The lip on the preferential of the battery door gave way as I was taking a picture - the door popped open and the batteries dropped at my feet. Righteous Compact Digital Camera
I purchased this camera for quick-witted access during vacation and travel. Although the camera cannot zoom very far it still is a very good camera. Takes very evident pictures and can be slipped into your pockets very easily into my pocket. Transferring pictures is very easy at best hook up the camera into the computer and click the you want and drag to the desktop. The only problem i have with the camera is that it has a earnestly time focusing on small texts. For example i want to copy a receipt and send it to the maker it would come out blurry.Overall this is a great camera and i would highly recommend this for travel or for nimble-witted takes

Debris!
Bought this camera for my daughter. One month later, the battery division door retention pins break, rendering the unit useless and there was no way to close the door-not even with tape. I academic of this in July as she was away at school, but it is 'guaranteed' for 1 year! Yay! I followed Nikon's directions to return to them. They advised me that they did not esteem this covered as it was possible we may have dropped it or forced the door closed. I calmly explained that wasn't the prove AND that we had a friend with the same camera and same problem! ALSO, you can read the reviews of this camera on various sites (or the L-22) to see that it's a collective gripe. They would not fix it and wanted $93. After the postage/insurance to ship it to them, I could buy a new camera. But I will not ever buy another Nikon product. I am sticking with Canon as they have submersed their product for me in the past OUT of warranty!!! You've been warned.

A lot of camera for a wise price!
This camera is wonderful! I bought it based on the reviews I read, but had NO idea of all the different things this camera does! It shoots videos and it shoots in "sports wise" - taking many pictures one right after the other so you don't miss anything. We have used this camera at some multiple-day music festivals and are only amazed at the clarity of the pictures and how easy it is to use! The sound on the videos is good (if your computer speakers are commodities) and a unipod solves the shake problem if you have one. The batteries last pretty long if you aren't shooting videos - that seems to use them up quicker. This is my first digital camera, and I bought it because 1) casual to use, 2) large preview screen and 3) uses AA batteries. I was absolutely thrilled it did all this accessory stuff. Friends who took the same pictures with their cameras were surprised at the difference when the pictures were posted. Ours were much cured. Highly recommend this camera - especially to the camera...
