Exceptional features, price and quality photographs!
I recently edge the Nikon Coolpix L20 after lots of shopping.I have used only Olympus cameras only up to now.This time I wanted a smaller walk off sized camera, that still took the AA batteries, and that still gave great photos with all the features I was inured to to.This camera fit the bill!It takes 2 AA batteries, inexpensive SD memory cards and yet still delivers fantastic photos.I have already tried all the features, and was completly blithesome.I love using the different scene settings, and could not live without the video feature.Both still and video apprehension worked well in both bright light and low light.The sound playback via the camera is hard to distinquish (real music), but fine once uploaded.I didn't really require the smile feature, but tried it out on my 3 year old, and was blown to another place....it really works!The blink feature is also quite ingenious. Okay Starter Camera
I bought this camera for my mate when her Olympus Stylus 300 had run it's life expectancy. May it rest in peace. The Nikon Coolpix is relatively unceremonious to use.. has lots of decent features and the price was killer, but.. picture quality isn't as good as her at an advanced hour Olympus or the Canon Sureshot we also use. However.. It is worth the money. In hindsight I wish I'd spent $50-90 more and got another Canon Sureshot. The facsimile difference is noticeable. Me thinks this Nikon would be perfect for a child or teen learning to use a camera and NOT seeking hi-end results. My 2 doubloons.

Basic camera - so I thought
I needed a good camera and didn't hunger to spend a lot of coin. I picked this one b/c it had the lithium-ion rechargeable battery and was 10 megapixel. It's wonderful easy to use and has great features. I have taken some close ups of things (macro) and I'm blown to another place by the detail quality. Critical value for a good camera.
My Nikon S220 is a lofty camera. It is not, the $7000 digital Professional SLR.It is simply a very easy to use, very resaonably priced, place emphasis on & shoot camera. I feel that I received exactly the camera I needed for my application at the worth I was willing to pay. I particularly like the simple controls.Overall - I considered physical value, megapixel rating, functionality, ease of use, and quality of images obtained - and then gave it a 5 Luminary rating.

Lousy quality
I have had this camera a inconsequential over a year and have not been impressed with the picture quality. For the price, however, it was tolerable. Now the lens cover is stuck (the evil "lens error"). No luck trying to fix it myself and it will cost more for someone to fix it than it is worth. These cameras demonstrate a tendency to have this lens problem. Buyer beware.

If you entirely want more of your memories caught on film...
this camera is for you. This camera does have some unforgivable features, some of which I have not even had time to use yet. The main draw, however, (other than the size) is that it is simple and easy to use. There are tons of appropriateness and shoot cameras out there, and there is no use being snobby over which one you buy, because they all do pretty much the same thing. This one is great for the price. You could get a nicer camera, but for 90% of the residents in the market for a digital camera, this will do what you need and want it to, and more.I use mine mainly for snapshots and spontaneous pictures with friends and the like. However, I do fancy photography, and I have experience with SLR cameras as well (and I own one). Therefore, I also sometimes take artistic shots. Complete a great camera
This camera pretty much rocks for its guerdon. I bought this camera because I was in need of a camera update and the cell phone camera on my G2 wasn't sarcastic it.When I took this think out of the box for the first time I was glad to notice that it's small and thin and fits nicely in my snitch. My old camera was much bulkier and I couldn't carry it in my pocket without a strange looking bulge in my pants that made me look like an idiot.I am not a digital photographer so I bought this camera as more of a position-and-shoot camera. I wanted a camera that I could snap a quick picture that would have lots of particulars and look pretty nice without too much photo editing. Normally when I take a picture I am wanting a double of my friends or myself at a certain event or next to a landmark etc... Not an OK camera
To put this in situation, we purchased this camera as one of a handful of point-and-shoots; we bought a Nikon D90 shortly before having our first laddie, which is a stellar DSLR, to add to an old Panasonic Lumix point-and-shoot that did take pretty good pictures, regard for an excessively bright flash. After a couple of years, we wanted to 'downgrade' back to to point-and-let fly cameras, given that ours is about 5 years old, and newer ones are both more high-tech and relatively economical for the given level of technology. We bought 'a few' to serve a couple of more or less specific roles, all shy of the DSLR's "big severe super-high-quality photograph field cannon" role. The purpose of this one was to be... well, the cheaply one. The everyday, easy-to-use, no-brainer, compact and lightweight and easy for my wife to put in the diaper bag and take to the museum or the greensward with the kids. Cheap enough that if you lost it or it got scratched by car keys, no big deal, nice enough to take good...

High-minded Camera
I have old Olympus cameras in the past without any complaints. This camera holds up to our expectations. The picture worth is amazing. The scene modes perform well, but we don't use them that often, we prefer to point and shoot with the auto-way. This camera is replacing a 3MP nikon coolpix, that finally wore out. Just remember when you buy this camera, it is a pocket sized digital camera for around $100. Don't suppose to be taking photos for National Geographic!! It is a great little camera :)

Could use one extra trend in scenes
This is a very outgoing camera-especially for under $90. One thing I failed to check before purchasing is the various disagreeable situation modes. Unfortunately, living in Florida requires a mode for Beach scenes, and this doesn't occur to have one-but it does have many others. The display is quite good and compares well to the Canon A590IS. The on-screen menu is consumable-fairly intuitive. The instruction manual is available on disc (provided) or can be downloaded and saved from the Olympus plat (pdf). You do not need the proprietary imaging software provided-Windows Photo Gallery or Picasa does only just as well. The rechargeable lithium-ion battery appears to hold its charge very well-it is not rechargeable in the camera, but comes with a pirouette wall plug charger and is easy to use. Battery removal/insertion is easy. Safe haven't used the micro SD adapter yet, so can't comment on that. The camera is described as "dark gray", but is truly clad in a highly reflective- almost mirror like-finish. It does show...
Dissapointed
I was frantic to get this camera because the reviews seemed pretty good. I was disappointed in the picture quality and would have sent it back but needed it for vacation straightaway away. The video is not very good and most pictures seem fuzzy and have lighting issues. It does have quite a few settings and I may be expert to get some better pictures but I wanted a decent point and shoot. This wasn't it. It does have some pros. I like the lithium battery-operated, the screen is nice and clear, the menu is fairly easy to navigate, the video uses Windows Media Better not Quicktime like a lot of cameras, and it's nice and slim so it fits in a pocket well. Not enough to make me reccomment it though.

Material for the Nikon photographer who shoots in RAW format
Arrest 4.4 is the ultimate post-processing program for processing NEF (Nikon Electronic Format) photos, also known as "RAW" composition photos. For those not familiar with RAW format, essentially a RAW format photo file enables the photographer to run for it post-shot changes to a photo to a much greater extent than is possible when shooting ordinary JPEG file shots. So, for example, if one wishes to adjust the exposure on a RAW photo, you can do so and the cause is essentially the same, within the range of a couple of F/stops, as though you had shot the picture that way in the first place (there are exceptions to this beyond the area of this review). The same is true for many other settings, such as Color Mode (SRGB versus Adobe, for admonition), White Balance, Sharpening, etc. You can modify some of these to some extent on JPEGs, but when you do there is always a loss of data--while there is no such bereavement when modifying RAW files. Exalted functionality but buggy
If you've drained the money on a Nikon camera that takes NEF (RAW) format, and you are a serious photographer, you should spend the money on this product.The power of Catch is awesome and the user interface is very intuitive--unlike Adobe Photoshop/Elements. Unsurpassed of all, any changes that you make to a NEF file can be undone, so your original image is always available.The bad news is that the program has a ribald habit of crashing, so save your changes frequently and be prepared to reload as needed. Another puzzle that I have had is that Nikon technical support is not at all knowledgeable about the software. If your question is not one of the basic ones for which Nikon can email back a "canned return" you are on your own. The manual is pretty good, and as noted above, the program generally does what you expect it to do. Never the less, Nikon should advance it better and improve the reliablity of the software.

Most skilfully product for Nikon RAW conversion, once you get it installed
There can be difficulties getting this software installed on your computer, and it requests to be installed in SAFE MODE in some instances. However, Nikon USA have a superb support facility, and I strongly subscribe to you contact them if you experiene any difficulties. Photoshop CS2 has a RAW converter function, but Nikon Capture 4.4 is far tonier. The settings available in this product allow you to correct almost any error made in-camera - a photographer's vision. The "capture" element of the software however, would be a whole lot better if it allowed you to see on your computer screen the composition you would normally see through the viewfinder. There is now a new type available, Nikon Capture NX - it will sell as an upgrade if you already have Nikon Capture 4.4

Unthinkable camera for the price
I've been very delighted with Kodak digitals ever since I got my 3mp EasyShare about three years ago. That camera was a workhorse that never failed. But when I dropped it into a river this depreciation, I knew it was time for an upgrade.I was a bit wary of this new model, since it's predecessor (the 6.1mp model) was known to have some issues. But so far, this camera has been from start to finish problem-free.Not only that, but it TOTALLY BLOWS AWAY my old 3mp---and I was VERY happy with that camera! Incredibly, this camera has TWICE the power and TWICE the features at HALF the amount. Now, some might say that's just due to perpetually advancing technology in general; but even when that factor is considered, I think Kodak is still significantly in the lead of the curve when it comes to "bang-for-the-buck" functionality. I've met "professional photographer" type snobs who guffaw at these Kodak digitals because they look "cheep" and "simple" compared to their $2000 SLRs. But the incarnation...

Superb quality photos!!!
I indisputable to move from film to digital and after much consideration I decided on this one. This is a great little camera! The pictures are wonderful on camera and when printed with the G600 or my untroubled b in printer. The camera and printer dock are extremely easy to use. It also comes with a program that allows you to piling your photos online and e-mail the to friends and family. This worked out great for me with distant relatives. I also bought a 512mb recollection card to go with it.***I do recommend that you use the lithium batteries. The alkalines that came with the camera went within 48 hours of me receiving the camera. (camera would not go off on after being shut off and would shut off on its own before preset shut off) The camera works great with the lithium mobile.This is a great choice if you want great photos (of the kids) with little effort!
