Decipher THE MANUAL!!! This is a great camera if you learn how to use it correctly!
When I first turned on the camera and started irresistible pictures, I too noticed the grainy quality of the pictures. Then I started reading the manual! What a great idea, huh? It has different "scenes" in which you can decide whatever current situation you are in while taking the picture. If you press the scene button, you can select up to 18 extraordinary scenes in which to take your pictures. You can choose anything from museum (no flash)and sporting events, to candlelight/parties and fireworks! All you dire to do is select what's right for the situation you're in. You can also select auto scene where the camera will automatically privileged which scene it thinks you're in. This is a great camera!! I love being able to turn my photos to dismal & white and sepia, and write little notes on them. You can also record messages to go with your pictures! I love the big-hearted touch screen, and being able to touch-up the pictures directly on the camera! Bottom line is, if you know how to use the...
Cogent compact camera with quality pictures
I purchased this camera for my daughter to put back a beat up 5MP pocket camera (Samsung) that used batteries up like no tomorrow. It was a fit little camera but it was time for an upgrade for her. At 16 years old it was time for her to have an update for engaging snapshots of family and friends and to give her the ability to document our many family vacations. I own a Nikon DSLR that is up in the 1,000 to 2k dollar arrange and it gets frequent use and has been quite durable. The issue with it is size. This camera is no where near as radical as my DSLR but it is quite competent for a camera in its price range. For those critics out there who have had issues with perfect example inform quality READ THE OWNERS MANUAL!! This is a very easy camera to use right out of the box but to get the most out of it you need to elect the right mode for the type of photo you are taking. It seems many are reporting grainy photos or problems with essence quality. We have never seen that with this camera...
    Upright what I wanted
I bought this camera as a brainless variant to my full-featured high end DSLR. Guess which one comes with me everywhere? It's so easy to shoot with this little steal camera, and so guiltless. Easy to use, small and convenient. I have no issues with the image quality. Then again, I distinguish what the high end looks like, so maybe my expectations are more reasonable. You gets what you pays for - and I like it a lot.

    Sensitive Package... Junky Pictures
I bought this camera after losing my Canon SD900 while on vaction at Disney Smashing in early December 2008. As with everything I review, I use an item for several months to truly evaluate how usefulness it is after the "new" purchase feeling has died down and I want to evaluate performance and not emotions for my new toy. This camera is clean to review. It is very well made. It is a good looking camera. You expect big things. But...What you get it is horrible images. I old it all through the Christmas and New Year holidays (2008) and was disappointed in its pictures. If this is your first camera in this arena you might not be able to intimate and think the images look fine, maybe even great. However, owning several high end DSLR's, and having tempered to several "point and shoots" as quick grab backups, I can say the images aren't good. They are grainy. The colors are impecunious and muted in many instances. Low light pictures are terrible, bordering on horrendous. This...
    Genial features, mediocre picture quality
I bought this as a give-away for my wife to supplement a 4-year-old, bulky Canon A95 digital camera. First pictures looked okay but seemed to be missing some transparency. All photos were shot in Auto mode and were taken indoors. To rate the photo attribute, I took photos of the same object with the Nikon and with the old Canon. I imported the photos onto my laptop and split the separate out with the two adjacent images. I shot the photos in Auto with no zoom. The results were stunning. The Nikon photo were spotless but not crisp. On the other hand, the Canon photo was extremely clean and detailed. We are returning the Nikon and buying another Canon.
    Agreeable, easy to use!!
I bought this camera for my Mom as a birthday bonus as she wanted something really simple. It's convenient to carry in your purse or pocket and comes with a 5x optical zoom. We have tried clicking number photographs over Christmas as well as shooting videos. Everything came out really well. Got no complaints whatsoever! This prototype however, doesn't come with an SD card, so buyers will have to buy that seperately.

Tight, slick, and slow to respond
I purchased this camera as an all-around sense-and-shoot for my family's use, and plan to return it and pick another - probably a Canon SD850 or like.First, the good. Photos are very good overall, with the exceptions noted below, and much better than my previous camera, a Nikon 4300. The camera is bantam, nice looking, and has a huge LCD. I also appreciated the integrated (and internal) lens cover and non-protruding optical zoom. The typical example stabilization was another selling point for me.Then I got the camera home... The slick look is smarmy (as in slippery) to hold, too. The tiny buttons are not well differentiated, and like other reviewers I found myself accidentally hitting the power trade frequently. The big LCD always looks grainy, making me think my photos weren't very good until I viewed them on my PC invigilator. I also found the interface confusing (and I'm no electronics newbie). But the real killer is the camera's speed. Although it...
Very sound, but I have a problem (Muy buena, pero tengo un problema).
It is very satisfied and easy to use. The 3 inches screen is fabulous. The revolving wheel is a different way to show the multiple customized options and allows the twin of photos in multiple ways, one of them as a carrousel that turns when it rotates. The stabilizer of real images works quickly! As if it was firmly supported. The problem I have is that the on/off button, located on top, reacts to very slight pressures unexpectedly turning on. It generally speaking happens when sliding it into the protective case and into the trousers pocket. Although it turns automatically off in five minutes, the frequency of this development contributes to unload the battery.I have found that 150 photos by battery load is very little. It forces to buy an leftover battery. The battery icon appears too late when very little load on battery is sinistral. It should be present when the camera is turned on as it does for the amount of available photos and the actual...
    Look over the manual people!
I keep seeing all of these rethink with silly problems, just read the manual! If it seems slow to take pics, change the shutter zip to the higher/faster speeds and the camera will keep up with your multi fast action photos, no check as described by others. The power button is just like the one on the L series, although easy to turn on, the camera has an inescapable sleep mode before it actually turns off. I love this camera, and when in high resolution photo approach, the display is vivid and quite clear, unlike the grainy lo res pics show on it. I give it a 5+ for outstanding facilitate and wonderful functions.

Easygoing to use camera with pleasant results
The 4100 is an quiet to use camera with several nice features that deliver better than expected results. It is perfect for vacations and parties, and most other intimate uses. This is not a camera for photo enthusiast requiring lots of options and lots of zoom aptitude. Overall, it is a great bargain.Pros:- Priced a significant amount lower than competing models- Very foolproof to use and intuitive menus- Great picture quality (not excellent)- Compact and solid, but not at the expense of usability- Usefull commotion and picture framing toolsCons:- The batteries won't last more than twenty five pics w/flash- The LCD display is not so great in sunlight- The 3x optical zoom is only honourableness enough for close objects and portrait shots (this is why it is not 5 stars)- The digital zoom seriously sacrifices idol quality
    Not a fortunate camper
I have been using the Nikon 4100 for two months and have found it very problematical to use. I use a camera for work, documenting defects in building construction. The other two cameras I use are a Cannon Digital Dissenter and an Olympus D-520. To compare the group, lets get the good things out of the way first. It is small and hysteria easily in a pocket. It uses 2 AA batteries, so it is easy to get and carry spares. The quality of the photos is what you would look forward in a 4 MP camera.THE UGLY..the start up sequence for the 4100 seems at least twice as long as the Olympus. Once on, the point between button push and actually taking a picture makes the camera difficult to use (even when photographing inert components). Frequently, it will not take a photo had you have to turn it off and back on (get a sandwich and take a break). I have never acclimated to the camera for a full day when I did not have to turn it off and remove and reinstall the memory card because the camera "lost" the...

how to fix grainy/blurred pictures on my Nikon coolpix?

I reasonable got a nikon coolpix s220 today because my kodak went berserk and now the pictures are grainy on the camera screen and indistinct on my computer. How would I go about fixing this problem?

Samples would workers. Grain usually means that you've got the ISO set too high. Blur usually means you're not using a promiscuously enough shutter speed.

Both are symptoms of not having enough light. Try using the flash. Also be steady

pictures on my nikon coolpix are grainy?

whenever i take pictures with my new nikon coolpix S550 [10 mp] camera, its pictures are either grainy, hazy [no, not due to hand motion] or part of the picture is lighter than the other.

i've read about ISO, and right now it's on auto.

ISO is like film step on the gas.
ISO 100 is great for bright light conditions.
The lower the light, the higher the ISO is needed as when movie speeds came in 200, 400 etc.

Try setting it to iso 400 and see what happens.

nikon Coolpix S230 - Pictures Look Grainy?

The sensors on those bantam P&S cameras are tiny.... VERY tiny.
That means the pixels are squashed together a lot and that causes digital alarums, a.k.a. grain.
