Devoted camera - so I thought
I needed a actual camera and didn't want to spend a lot of coin. I picked this one b/c it had the lithium-ion rechargeable battery-operated and was 10 megapixel. It's super easy to use and has great features. I have taken some close ups of things (macro) and I'm blown in another place by the detail quality. Tickety-boo value for a good camera.
My Nikon S220 is a admissible camera. It is not, the $7000 digital Professional SLR.It is simply a very easy to use, very resaonably priced, focus & shoot camera. I feel that I received exactly the camera I needed for my application at the assess I was willing to pay. I particularly like the simple controls.Overall - I considered physical appraise, megapixel rating, functionality, ease of use, and quality of images obtained - and then gave it a 5 Famed rating.

Insufficient quality
I have had this camera a cheap over a year and have not been impressed with the picture quality. For the price, however, it was tolerable. Now the lens cover is stuck (the despicable "lens error"). No luck trying to fix it myself and it will cost more for someone to fix it than it is worth. These cameras tend to have this lens problem. Client beware.

I valid bought this camera two days ago from a camera store (yes, of course it's cheaper here). I have four other cameras, two screen (Nikons) and two digital (one Nikon and one Olympus), but I wanted something that I could fit in my purse or backpack. Many times I want to take pictures, but am too idle to carry my camera gear unless I'm planning a photo outing. This camera letter for letter fits into my jeans pocket so I will be able to carry it every day.So far I find the camera's menu systems are alike resemble to the menu on my other Nikon cameras (N80, D70). This makes the learning curve easier. When you vary the camera off, the lens collapses into the body of the camera, and there is a lens cover that closes over the lens to protect it. That isn't shown in the photograph.I like that the camera allows you to hinge on off the flash if you don't want it on. I like to do natural light photography; sometimes I don't want the flash. Ticklish point and shoot for price, but has drawbacks
This is the first habits that I bought something new on the market. Typically, I buy something after it has been reviewed for at least 6 months, but I had to replace the "family point and toss" before Easter. I was replacing my old Nikon Coolpix 5900 (which was a little bulky, but took FANTASTIC photos). I also loved the video blue blood. New Nikon P60 is a durable contender in a crowded field
Simply bought one of these over weekend and tried it out extensively. Compact, solid design that feels encomiastic in your hand. At this price the feature list is superb: Electronic View Finder (EVF), 5x opitcal zoom, 8 megapixel, Vehicle/Program AND Manual controls. Movie mode that allows zooming while you shoot. Talented image quality. Vibration reduction image stabilization works great, too. I also was pleasantly surprised to see that it uses AA batteries--no overpriced special purpose lithium batteries. These were all important features for me.The EVF is very cool and unusual in a camera at this appraisal and, it seems more and more, a viewfinder of ANY kind in a point & shoot camera is becoming unusual. So many of the newer models are eliminating this present, requiring you to use the large LCD screen. For all time Nikon Has a Winner!!!
Over the dead and buried 2 years, I have gone through a lot of Nikon Point and Shoot Cameras. I started with the L1, S200, s51, 7900, even a P5000 and for a few moments had a Canon SD 700IS. I have to say, the P60 is the best out of all of them! Almost absent is Nikon's annoying shutter lag they had in previous models and now it is a attached, responsive little camera. I don't think it will win the award for quickest compared to the Canon's Elphs, but it is a persuaded improvement. The camera is quiet when zooming and very fast. Image quality from what I can see so far is excellent. Most desirable of all, it takes Double AA batteries back to the days when I had a Nikon 950. It is very light and not heavy. Also it isn't a sub compact camera, so don't have it to fit in a little girl's pocket. The electronic viewfinder is also very nice to have on a camera this small. It isn't the sharpest when u look through it, but it is a close option to have. The only drawback is that the P60 does not have the wide angle lens that the P50...

Having been a fan of Nikon cameras for years. I wanted a limited camera to take on our upcoming trip to Disney World.I also own a Nikon D300 but it would be way too difficult to lug around this camera and the many lenses I have for it. Je sais quoi at Affordable Expense
Important pictures and easy to use. I researched and played with tons of cameras before finally deciding on the Nikon S200. The choice was that it carried alike resemble features of high-end/high-expense cameras on the market. It was only natural to choose this camera as it gave me skilful quality at a poor man's budget. And if something ever happens to it such as getting lost or stolen while on trips, it won't put me in the brig. I also have early Parkinson's disease. It has a stabilizing feature that allows me to take the pictures despite my shaking. On me, it is a nice feeling to be able to take a picture and not have it blurred or smeared. Other cameras on the market didn't assistant with this and left me overwhelmed and frustrated. With the Nikon S200, I had renewed confidence in taking quality pictures.
Delightfully size and display but disappointed with the image quality
I bought one from Costco and already returned it after one week. 50% of the pictures bewitched outdoor were blurred, maybe from handshake. The VR is probably not effective per Hiram's review. Otherwise, it is harmonious nice and solid camera. The video quality is pretty good. Interface is movables. I just found out another colleague had bought one too and he is complaining about the blurred image issue. I am now considering the Nikon S50.

Happier than expected!
This is my aide-de-camp digital camera and I'm so happy to have it! I looked at a few others, but the size, picture quality and LCD screen are phenomonal! Keep in reprimand there is no viewer on this camera, but with the quality of the screen, you don't need one. Definitely recommend this camera to someone who is interested in having memories but not using professionally.

I purchased this camera to put back my Finepix S5100. Mind you, there was nothing wrong with my 5 year old S5100. I just felt the have occasion for for something newer. The S5100 was a 4MP camera - the S1000FD is 10MP. I loved my S5100 and it did right by me for years, so I stuck with Fuji. It's still in the kinfolk...I gave it to my daughter and she's using it now. (Still ticking after 5 years!) I am not a professional photographer, I just like to take pictures and I don't be versed a lot about manual settings and such. All I know is, I keep the camera on AUTO and 99% of my pictures come out masterly. The camera does have face finder technology and for the most part, I don't have to fix red eye manually anymore. The large LCD interview is great. Battery usage is normal. (Invest in rechargeables! Save a fortune in batteries!) The zoom is mannerly, but the real test will be from my seats at Yankee Stadium! I'll update on this one later on. The S1000FD also accepts both SD and XD cards. I am qualified to use the 1Gb...

Fuji I Delight it
I passion the feel and the size of the camera. The ability to choose the settings most used and save them is neat also. Low light pictures are very good. The quality of the pictures so far is great.Can't beat this ZOOM either.The larger bigness Lcd is also nice and the fact that you can turn it off and use the viewfinder, or lower the brightness is very much a help at conserving freestyle life.Speaking of batteries the best part about them is they are available Everywhere.So if your rechargeable AA goes dead you can pop in a stock bought AA battery in a pinch.Bottom line very very happy with my purchase.5-30-08After using now for a while here is an update..The camera is well-lit weight has a powerful zoom and flash.Tripod may be needed if zoomed all the way out.I have owned a fuji camera previous to this one and it had manual focus this does not .
