Persons, this purchase came after 3 solid days of research using everything from Amazon, CNet, Infosyncworld, to YouTube. You are here, reading reviews, as I was at the day one of my search for a great quality digital camera that was neither high-end nor cheap. Now I'm no skilled photographer, but I am picky about how my pictures look. I have a good eye, and can be very anal about details in my photos. I've seen this camera get some bad reviews lately, and I am exceptionally perplexed by this. I looked at lots of other cameras. some costing more and some less. This was by far the best point and shoot steal-able mega zoom out there, I thought. I read some negative reviews about sluggish concentrate and blurred images from here and from Best Buy's web site. I don't know if a bad batch of cameras went out? I did have some indistinct issues right out of the box when I started using the camera; but after inspecting the camera I noticed a scrupulous big greasy finger print right on the lens. The S9100 is the masterly size and feel for a pocket camera. It looks to be all plastic, but the type of plastic and the importance of the build makes it look and feel like the best small cameras made these era. Startup time is about one second, and going from minimum zoom to maximum zoom takes about two seconds. Likeness quality is very good for a camera with a 1/2.33-type sensor, but certain very fine niceties like hair, or a bird's feathers in a low-contrast part of the bird's body may be smeared sort of. This is apparently caused by the noise reduction software in the camera, which can't be turned down or off. On the other hand, my Canon SX-210 (which I replaced with the S9100) does not diet noise much if at all, and the end result is a compromise between the two systems. I condign received my Nikon Coolpix S8200 so my initial comments are admittedly based on just a couple of existence playing with the camera, however I noticed how few comments there were, so I thought prospective buyers of this camera should have some other feedback on which to base their purchase decision. First of all, the other reviewers are right about the placement of the flash apparatus. This is one of the few times that I have had a Nikon camera where so obvious an error in design was made. I have long fingers and you can learn over time, but it is difficile to hold the camera steady without overlapping the flash. I received my Nikon S8200 a few time ago. It is wonderful; easy to use; fast; and did I say, fast. The CMOS screen is better than my Nikon SLR. Downloading the photos to my Nikon Taking NX2 software on my iMac 24" screen results in photos that are nearly as stunning as my Nikon SLR.My only carp is the flash. Whoever decided to put the pop-up flash where it is either never uses a point-and-shoot camera or has little disconnected toddler-sized hands. The flash pops up out of the camera right where your left list finger rests. The first time I used it and the flash was required, the flash never came out fully as my liberal index finger blocked it. Proper got my S8200 tonight and am still battling a bad cold, so I didn't really have a chance to take photos other than reversed my house (primarily of my dogs, bedroom, and small christmas tree.) Firm but Capable
I owned the very dependable Sony DSC-W350 (which I liked very much), but I managed to leave it in a rental car. Between the time I bought my Sony and now, Nikon released a new border, so I figured I'd give one of their best compact point and shoot cameras a try. I use a lot of Nikon's DSLR equipment, but their call-and-shoots have been a bit disappointing to me over the years. Integrity Camera HUGE video flaw
I bought this camera because I wanted a camera that could both take capital quality pictures of objects from a far away distance and took HD video. The Quality of the pictures of this camera are pure from a far distance. I could easily read signs when zoomed in that I could not read from looking at them. I am a structural build so I needed something that I could read the structure types and be able to idetify the structures from a distance, in this it did its job.Now the down side of the camera. The video rank of the video was excellent as well as the sound. The HUGE overlooked flaw is that recording indoors or out there is a serious pitched squealing noise in the backround of every video no matter if it was played on lcd, computer, tube tv, or the camera itself. I tried the camera instore and it did the same element (after I had taken it home and tested in depth). Benevolent performance and beautiful outlook
After a few life span' research and testing between Canon S90 and Canon SX210 at 2 shops, I decided to get a Canon S90 for its superior image quality.But when I went to a third shop, aiming to get Canon S90, I was shown on the computer vet the 2 photos (jpeg) taken at the same place (indoor) a few seconds ago, one by S90 and one by Nikon S8000. The photo entranced by S8000 rendered the true colors, just as what I saw under the lighting, and the image did not have jagged edges as in Canon S80 when magnified at the computer. Then a link of shots confirmed that the noise control between the two were not as I expected. At least under ISO 400, Nikon S8000 photos did not prepare for more noise than Canon S90. Actually, at ISO 125, I did observe that Nikon's resolution was better. And the LCD interview resolution of Nikon was also higher than Canon S90. True, Canon S80 allowed one to take RAW images and vade-mecum control, but I wanted a travel zoom camera and would not like to work with RAW...

A much needed recovery of the coolpix range
I found the last fathering of coolpix cameras to be disappointing at best. This one however has received some massive improvements.1. It's very very fastIt is winged in all ways possible. The shutter response time in almost instantaneous. As soon as you click the knob the photo takes... give 1 additional second in poor lighting at worst. Unsurpassed of all is the photo navigation. Remember those old coolpix commercials where Ashton Kutcher would flick his finger and all the photos would scroll by hasty? That never worked before, but it actually does on this one. There is no lag whatsoever on photo viewing or changing settings.2. Great photo qualityI was playing with this in best buy and it took very noticeably clearer photos than the other camera in the same cost range... including the Canon powershots. First Nikon Coolpix I've had
I have a few cameras: Olympus DLSR, Canon Powershot S3IS, and Panasonic Lumix (condensed). I've also owned Kodak digital easyshares and Pentax film camers.I've been power shopping the last few life span for a good point and shoot for an upcoming trip I'm taking to CA. I'll be taking my Olympus DSLR, put prerequisite a pocket camera for those times a DLSR isn't appropriate due to size.Having owned a Canon Powershot S3IS and an Olympus DLSR, I'm reasonably picky about image quality. So I brought home a Canon 1300 and a Nikon s4000 and compared photos in Photoshop. Hands down, Nikon s4000 won everytime. Indoor, outside, flash, speed, ease of use, etc.This is an easty, point and shoot with great color and carbon copy quality.I'd recommend it.The reason for the 4 stars instead of 5 is because of the way you have to charge the battery. The battery has to be charged while in the camera.

Peerless to Carry Around
I honourable bought this camera two days ago from a camera store (yes, of course it's cheaper here). I have four other cameras, two murkiness (Nikons) and two digital (one Nikon and one Olympus), but I wanted something that I could fit in my purse or backpack. Many times I want to take pictures, but am too slothful to carry my camera gear unless I'm planning a photo outing. This camera truly fits into my jeans pocket so I will be able to carry it every day.So far I find the camera's menu systems are be like to the menu on my other Nikon cameras (N80, D70). This makes the learning curve easier. When you cycle the camera off, the lens collapses into the body of the camera, and there is a lens cover that closes over the lens to protect it. Careful point and shoot for price, but has drawbacks
This is the first all at once that I bought something new on the market. Typically, I buy something after it has been reviewed for at least 6 months, but I had to replace the "family point and open fire" before Easter. I was replacing my old Nikon Coolpix 5900 (which was a little bulky, but took FANTASTIC photos). I also loved the video eminence. Marvellous Photos from this little point and shoot!
I've had a Nikon S510 a while back which I loved, and the Nikon S570 is even bettor. I like vivid colors, and when set to "vivid", the Nikon S570 produces photos with beautiful sharp colors and excellent contrast. The wide angle lens has great edge to edge sharpness. The Nikon S570 performs well, undoubtedly not the fastest (shutter lag and start-up time), but good nonetheless. The only thing that it's really leisurely in is the wait time between shots, which seems to be an eternity. I've missed a few shots waiting for the camera to be ripe for the next shot. Otherwise, I really love this camera. It's small and light enough to fit in you pocket, and it takes top pictures. And for it's price, it's definitely a great buy.

There are many skilful cameras in this category to select from, and all have Pro's and Con's that ultimately are reported in these user reviews. These are personal point of view's, and mostely not scientific. This review for the Nikon S570 tells you why I chose this camera over the others.Since I was looking for a camera that was handy and easy to use I chose to look at these "pocket" style cameras. Very "Chill" little camera !!
I made this toe-hold for my wife for christmas .Although I bought this some time ago she just opened it for Christmas and she LOVES it!very casually to use and the quality is great..very light very easy no problems what so ever .Her hobby is photography so she finds it very relaxed to use and she knows her numbers and what to set it on so it is one nice little camera for when she dont want to lug around her bigger one. we have conclude from reviews for this camera and we do not find anything wrong with it ..some say it is slow between shots .. My wife does not at all find this camera blockish between shots..no way Some also say its blurry when you playback the photos.. Ours is not blurry at all and I played my photos back on my 32 inch HD TV..they fly at out clear as a bell. But some people DO have that problem..here is a solution that my wife says to do....DO NOT in any way Alternate your photos from the camera..this could damage the memory chip...

I bought a stamp new Nikon Coolpix S510 four days ago, and ive hardly used it, ive never dropped it or damaged it or anything, but i turned it on this morning and the camera froze and the lens made a whirring normal. And the "lens Error" sign
A four day old camera should not have done that. Propose taking it back to the store immediately for a replacement. You may currently have gotten a reshelved trust in return that somebody dropped.
