DescriptionARCA-SWISS monoball Z Stronger, lighter A bandleader of tripod head design for over 40 years, ARCA-SWISS is setting new standards revisiting their B-series models and introducing the Z-Series, fair as elegant, and even more perfect. The size and weight of the ball heads have been significantly reduced. The shot and fastening are now assembled using a patented bayonet mount. Various accessories can thus be pronto mounted to adapt the tripod as required. In addition to the proven, patented Arca-Swiss features, including aspherical bit heads, axial clamping and PMF (progressive motion related friction control), the Z-Series also boasts new specialized developments and optimized materials and coatings. The new series can withstand an incredible 60 kg (122 lbs) off-hinge. Z-Series heads are available as Version Z SP (single pan) and Version Z DP (double pan). The monoball Z DP with its understudy panning mechanism below the camera mount keeps the camera perfectly vertical to the chic plane, for perfect panoramic stitching of multiple images.Customer ReviewsSteadfast, smooth ballheadI bought the Arca-Swiss Z1 ballhead to use in conjunction with the Wimberley Sidekick gimbal. The Sidekick puts a side saddle with on the ballhead it's used with, loading the weight of the camera, Sidekick and a super-telephoto lens on the ballhead with the crisis flipped over 90-degrees. The Sidekick has vertical panning bearings, but no horizontal panning role, so it relies on the panning function of the ballhead to provide horizontal gimbal action. Hence, the ballhead must be better than average and have a smooth horizontal panning functions. The Z1 is excellent for this use, offering very high load province and a smooth panning function separate from the ballhead. When the Sidekick is mounted there's no play in any glide. I also use the Z1 for scenic photography and macro. One important need was for me to switch from a body with a super-tele lens to another density with a wide angle lens in just a few seconds. That's easy to do with the Arca-Swiss/Sidekick combination. I very recently slip off the... Everything I wanted in a tripod fever pitch I was most of all a " hand held" photographer until I injured my arm last year. I've had to switch to being a tripod user and it hasn't been an submissive transition. I got my tripod, but couldn't make up my mind about a head. I researched and asked questions of my photographer friends for a connect months before buying this tripod head. I went back and forth between the top brands - Kirk, Truly Right stuff and this one. I'm not a rich person by any means and to me, this was a big purchase, so I wanted to get it right the first tempo so I wouldn't be wishing I had gotten a different head a year from now. Currently I use a Canon Eos Mutineer XTi. (and a Canon Elan film camera) The heaviest lenses I have are my 100mm macro and my 28 - 135mm so unqualifiedly most any head would do, BUT, if things go as planned, I want to upgrade to a Canon 5D next year, and hope to add a 400mm lens to my bag, so I wanted a managing director that would handle that as well as what I have now. This one should do that without a... |
3-way ball-heads (Arca-Swiss Z2/B2 and FLM Centerball 58)
So hence I'm point of view about the above-mentioned "ballheads" (quite 3-way heads that meet with to use balls, but permit distinctive manage along all of the pin', just now like a 3-way leader). I bought the Gitzo G1570M to return my Bogen 3-way rule with hexplate (I entertain the idea it is the 3022). the Bogen is a cubic peak, but I've found that the camera can wheel along the hexplate, no trouble how rare I try to detect it. in the main because there is only one lag-screw.
Finally, a suitable leveling base
The followers that makes it is from China, and I'm not word for word forward with them, but this leveling base is made with compromise aspect/humongous size in thinking remember, so expectedly it'll be sturdy for me. It feels like it's well made, and provides a very charming... I had been using a "Two-headed giant" attitude, with a Wimberly Exemplar II make a beeline for head up and an NPC Pro Dome mounted on facing tops of my Benbo 2 tripod fore column, but it was a bit difficult to deflection from one to the other, since I had to top the whole... The Arca-Swiss B2...
Stuart.: Mark Fellows. Close-up Macro Photographer.
His pipe bird photography lens is a Sigma 500mm F4. 5 IF EX HSM telephoto. Some bird shots and many of the mammal images are bewitched with a Sigma 100-300mm F4 IF EX HSM lens, with a dedicated 1. The adulthood of macro shots were infatuated using a micro Nikkor 105mm VR AF-S IF-ED (well-known for handheld shots), and also use a Sigma 180mm EX DG HSM macro lens. He uses the solid Nikon R1C1 wireless macro skedaddle system for lighting, or a Nikon SB-900 (alone or with an SB-600) flashgun for fill-in delicate....
replacement ballhead - suggestions? (12)
While the tripod is grotesque, I have neglected the ballhead to the heart where it will be replaced and I have the $$ to supplant it now. My prevailing toil is only with a LF 4x5 (Chamonix) which is 3 lbs or so. But I am starting to jones for an 8x10 so I distrust that is in the cards over the next few years. If you judge to stop with a ballhead, keep an eye out for an original (pre-B1) Arca-Swiss Monoball....
