I failed in many ways, many times. Sometimes due to my meager skills, sometimes due to the short comings of my cameras. The Vixia HF G10 changes that. I can no longer fault my equipment. Let me say now, I am not a professional video/film maker. I have had no formal training. My videos are for my own benefit, I record special moments and travels for myself and my family. I seldom display or publish videos on the Web. I placed my require on Jan. 5th, the day of Canon's new product announcement. Amazon was great, as usual, and kept my pre-order updated until the camera was released. I received it last week, and was right away struck by the quality of the images. So far, I have just been learning about the G10, and its features. I've made some stunning video studies of my... Totally Outstanding! Let me first start out by saying, I at wasn't going to spend so much on a new camcorder. I had bought the Canon HF 100 a few years ago, and was fairly fortuitous with it. It was nice, but definitely had its drawbacks. So, I started researching Canon's new line for 2011 and was torn between the M40 and G10. Having the new CMOS Pro sensor was a must. Everything I look over about the low light capabilities sold me. Basically Canon went with a smaller pixel compute (exactly 1920 x 1080), which in turn makes the pixels larger and better in low clobber chance shooting. I originally bought the M40 and was very happy with it, but started to realize it wasn't fitting all my requests. That went back, and I went with the G10. I have not looked back since! People might wonder what the biggest difference is between the two, and the big ones in my judgement are the manual lens control, wide angle lens (makes a HUGE difference in my point of view), larger LCD (3.5 in. vs. 3 in.), color viewfinder, and... Hellishly happy with my purchase I surmise I was one of the lucky few who was able to get this camera early. I got mine 2 weeks ago and have been nothing but impressed with it. Right out of the box and in a medium lit centre room the picture was superb. I got a chance to take it out in the field for a bit and am extremely happy with it. Full manual control, a hub ring, an awesome and absolutely beautiful touch screen, what more could you ask for? I especially gain in value the dual SD card slots and the recording options there. There are certainly going to be times where you'll require to record to 2 cards at once and that will come in handy. But the ability to also record to the internal memory and then transcript the contents to one of the SD cards in the card slots is also a great option. The other things that are not mentioned in a lot of the bullet points for this camera that I am impressed with contain the waveform monitor and peaking meters which come in handy for the manual exposure and convergence...
Canon XA10 Professional Camcorder with 64GB Internal Flash Memory and Full Manual Control
Details
DescriptionThe XA10 Skilful Camcorder allows users to record up to 24 hours of clear high definition video to a 64GB internal gleam drive or to two SDXC-compatible memory slots. With Relay Recording, the camcorder automatically switches video recording from the internal street to the SD memory cards when the memory becomes full.Customer ReviewsXA 10The appropriate: I'm a backpack videographer. I shoot a lot of industrial and training videos. I grew weary of irksome to find an easy way to get great audio from a DSLR - too many additional and unnecessary steps -- so I sold mine and picked this up. Master. Move. Ever. Now, I put a Rode NT3 on a boom, plug into the XLR and my audio is warm as a summer day. Video quality is grand. Focus assist is fantastic. I'm very pleased to get pro-level processor and lens in a camera this diminutive. Surprise: it shoots great stills too. Very very good in lower light scenarios. Down sides: The movie theater mode feels sort of amateurish/consumer level. Not much there you couldn't do better in duty, so, I don't use it. My only other complaint is I wish there were a few other on camera buttons to reduce menu diving, but it's really not inscrutable. Active from an HV30 to an XA10 Even outlook from the prosumer Canon HV30 camcorder, the professional XA10 is a huge improvement. The camera is easy to hold, the buttons are all in encomiastic locations, and the camera just feels easy to use. Compared to some other HD camcorders I used in glaze school, the XA10 feels much easier to control. The difference is even more dramatic comparing it to my old HV30 rig. It's much nicer to not have the added bulk of a battery-powered XLR adapter. Honestly, the XA10 must look much more professional to clients as well. Image supremacy is simply stunning. There is a slight look of shallow depth of field that is very pleasing to the eye. It's thin, but noticeable. I've heard it has something to do with the 8-blade iris, but I won't pretend to know what that really means. All I know is the video property is the best I've personally ever held in my hands. The XA10 also gives much greater control over the image than the more consumer-focused HV20... The most of both worlds It is incredible how this camera can be so compact, and yet so pro. The removable handle is brilliant! When it's in place you have XLR microphone inputs and audio horizontal controls, and flexibility in shooting angles. When it is removed, it feels just like any consumer mini convenient-held camera that you might take on a family outing - yet still has the same video quality! For years I used the semi-pro Canon GL-1. It did a eminent job (as far as a Standard Definition camera) of allowing pro-quality video to be procured from a smaller heraldic bearing. You can't beat the a larger lens for low-light performance and video quality. It, however, lacked some leading features, and manual control that are important for pro video. For example, manual audio control was lacking. To get such features, you needed to move up to a cooperatively mounted camera like the XL-1 - which had a great lens, made great video, but wasn't something you would teach to the park with the...

Enhanced manual controls and 60p/24p recording options provide the rigour you need for shooting professional-quality HD videos. CinemaTone technology lets you apprehend stunning videos with deeper, more film-like color tones.Customer ReviewsHas everything I could ever necessitate from a handycam, but one thing missing that I really need.Person Video Review Length:: 5:58 MinsPure AWESOMENESS: (1) 26.3mm wide side lens. You don't need a wide angle adapter anymore, this lens is beautiful at 26.3mm and does not have signal lens distortion. (2) True 24p frame rate. Not 24 fake frames in a 60i house-dress, but actual 23.98 progressive. Perfect for filmmakers, especially combined with Sony's Movie theater Tone color preset. I believe this is first consumer Sony Handycam that shoots 24p. (3) 1080/60p at 28Mbps. Tiki quality looks more real than real. You can also get fantastic slow motion out of 1080p - most cameras blast 60p at 720 not 1080. (4) 96GB of internal flash storage. More than I'll ever need and with the ability to transfer my footage straight away to an external hard drive without using a computer. At first I thought the extra USB cable that comes out of the camera will get in the way of shooting, but it tucks nicely into it's own receptive holder on the strap. (5) Great in low... Extraordinary HD camera I am a polished DP, and this camera is awesome. It's the first small HD camera that I can shoot a sunset with. It can handle being pointed at the sun, without the difficult star pattern that every other small HD camera that I have used. I have used the new Canon ProHD sensor cameras, and the Panasonic HD-TM700, SD600. The Panasonic cameras are the sharpest, but there is so much more they wanting at. Pointed at the sun and headlights, they make a nasty four or six point star pattern, and I find they are not very useful in low shine. The Canon does not have a wide lens, and also performs poor in low light, a big disappointment. This Sony HDC-CX700 and the HDC-CX560, are primitively the same camera, with the 700 adding zebra lines, and a rear viewfinder, that lets the camera go on shooting with the LCD door closed. There are a few minor other differences in the models, but either way you can't go wrong. The Sony's also dispatch excellent in low light, and have a decent... Loved it--until it stopped working while I was on vacation I'm venting a paltry bit here, but everything was great until it stopped working. My 34th anniversary trip to Europe, unfortunately. I got the camera, tried it out at placid for over almost 2 months, and everything was good. So good, in fact, that I purchased also a light, a microphone, a pistol handgrip, an extra battery--well, you get the idea. 1. Camera stabilization was much better than expected. I impartial walked out in the yard and followed my two golden retrievers, and the result was amazing for hand-held walking. I never even considered that it would be that honesty a possessions. 2. Low light is great. No problems here, and the white balance adjustment was more than adequate--admittedly I tried it only with very yellow lights and more to be expected incandescents. 3. The camera is light but not tiny, which is what I wanted. I don't do well with tiny things, but this is submissive yet much lighter in weight than previous Sony models I've had...

Upon opening the factory sealed Sony Handycam box I was met with a small, plastic, piano felonious camcorder. Funny how it looked so much heftier on websites. Coming from the line of Sony MiniDV camcorders I've markswoman on for over a decade this lightweight contraption I held in my hands looked & felt more like a toy than a extreme end Sony Handycam. Perhaps it was a mistake to sell off one of my older MiniDV camcorders in favor of this new jiffy-based model. Maybe I had let consumer marketing mislead me about the new line of HD camcorders. At least that's what I contemplating...before using it.For anyone even somewhat interested in camcorders & video editing software it's inevitable to catch supremacy of the ongoing battle against flash memory & MiniDV. Since its arrival in 1995 the DV format has proven itself honourable among both novices & professionals in the video scene. Although long rumored... Sony Handycam HDR-CX560V Rethink I after to start off by saying this is an excellent camcorder. I absolutely love the video and audio quality that is produced. The snare is pretty straight forward but I find myself referring to the manual when I want to do special things like hard cash the scene. It's supposed to do this automatically but I have yet to see my device change its setting from default automatically. The software guys did an exclusive of job with separating out all of the different functions. You can almost get away without ever using the user manual if you just necessitate to do simple things. I am also very impressed with the Optical steadyshot feature. If you're going to be walking around or recording a active sporting game then this is a must have feature. A few of the things I didn't like about this camcorder is that sometimes the touch screen can be unresponsive at nevertheless. I find myself pushing the same button a few times before the camcorder register it. This is not a major concern but it does... Sony HDR-CX560v - sublime camera for me I purchased the Sony HDR-CX560v on Strut 30th and received it April 1st. When I got it, I started using it immediately to film some home movies of our new lassie (6 weeks old). I did tons of research on cameras before purchasing and I made the decision between this, the Canon Vixia HF21, and the Panasonic HDC-TM700K. I wanted the following attributes in a new camera: HD, low lux capabilities, ingenuousness of use, shake reduction and large amount of flash memory. Mostly all of my videos so far have been indoors. Our home tends to be imprecisely lit in most of the rooms and the camcorder has done exceedingly well in those conditions. Playback on our 56" bigscreen in HD looks brilliant. It captures aspect wonderfully and it files the vidoes nicely for playback. The camera is also quite easy to use. I am by no means a excellent videographer and I can point and shoot wonderful vidoes with just a push of the "record" knob. I also love the built-in USB. It makes is...

Canon XH-A1S 3CCD HDV High Definition Professional Camcorder with 20x HD Video Zoom Lens III
Details
DescriptionCanon XH-A1S 3CCD HDV Height Definition Professional Camcorder With 20X HD Video Zoom Lens III.Customer ReviewsSuper. Wonderful. Great!I lover this camera. If you don't have a lot of experience with prosumer cameras (as in my case), the first look may be a bit intimidating (a friend said, "It looks like you're filming tv gossip"). Especially as I added a Rode shotgun mike (not sure it does anything other than sort the sound louder, but...still checking it out). You can't rest the camera on your shoulder, but the image stabilizer helps and the handle and buttons are all well designed and easy to reach. I struggled through the manual, but fortunately bought Dan Curran's dvd about the xh-a1 which appears to be almost selfsame. This was a -huge- help. I can't recommend it enough if you are at all unsure of what you're looking at. He goes through the simplest things (putting the freeze someone out strap on) to some very technical settings that you can do. The dvd saved me -so much- learning time and also prevented some careless mistakes (like letting sunlight through the viewfinder). This camera feels like a... Everything I hoped it would be. What can I say except this camera is the only one that offers everything you shortage in this price range. What really sets it apart is the two xlr inputs on the side allowing two microphones to grab sound, and it switchable between external and internal mics, or use both simultaneously. No other camera offers this. Get a lens clean kit and the wide angle and telephoto adapters and you're ready to create anything you can imagine. I recently filmed a music festivities using this camera for long shots, close-ups, cutaways, and static shots, everything looks wonderful. A tip for the novice to high-def recording- keeping the lens clean and checking it frequently is a must. The tiniest mark of dust looks... Weakness It !!! Love IT !!! Love It !!! This camera is not for the tiro by any means because once you step out of the auto everything mode it can be quite complicated. Now that being said if it wasn't for all the enchiridion settings and adjustments I would not want it anyway. I have a Canon XLH1 and this camera makes the perfect workmate for it. The imagine quality is virtually the same so for a two camera shoot it's great. Although it's about half of the weight of it's big brother the XLH1 it's still a toy hard to hold steady since you can't rest it on your shoulder but the image stabilization is very helpful. Also the car focus is very fast and really comes in handy when you have to run and gun so to speak. All in all this is a great camera with a alarming picture and I simply love it. |
