I'm so thrilled with it, I may buy a 2nd one.
I looked at a few of these online and I ended up buying this one. I liked that it was rechargeable and that it came with a link to attach it to my tripod. I used it off and on throughout the night. I will say it didn't last the whole evening. But after everything I read about the other ones on the bazaar, I'd have to say that's a pretty normal problem. It's small, lights up the room really well and overall I'm so glad with it I'm thinking of buying another one so I can make it through a whole night of picture taking.

Yes WOW, I have a scanty compact vivitar 510 Camcorder that doesn't put out much IR Light, so I decided to use this Polaroid IR light with it, figured I would get a speck better light with it, what I didn't expect was a lot of light and so much help I can turn off all the other IR and UV lights in each elbow-room I have have them in for extra light for my other Camcorders and camera's, this little thing is rechargeable and puts out a lot of flashlight! I make my own light buy purchasing IR and UV LED's and building them myself, some of my bigger lights are really good for fancy distance and this new IR light is almost comparable to them which says a lot. Why don't I just use them you might ask, well for one they are much bigger and some of them need to be plugged in. This rarely IR light is so handy and easy to carry with the included mounting bracket that I attach the camcorder and the insight and off I go without any worries! burns out after a duo of hours
I bought half a dosen of those for a estimate at work. Plugged them in and left on for a couple of hours. Most of them burned out even thought it was in a regular patronage enviroment with conditioned power source! All LED's became dim. To get to higher power, the manufacturer probably operates LED's above the authoritative current limit, which results in very short life time of the device.
Not as merit as it sounds
The IR Empty-headed is sturdy and looks like the picture. The function however is not as good as the ad claims: The Light runs very hot for LED, would not last as configured from works. No day light sensor, so light will run constantly, even during the day. The distance the light can illuminate is more like 20 feet if you privation to see who or what your filming, you might see a mirror at 60 feet. Over all not happy with product or the way it was avertised.

Tenebriousness Light lets you see in the dark
I got this to see a damaged person on a monitor during the night. The light works great, but I did take off one star because of the heat it gives off. It is very hot to the consume when on, this is not a significant problem, but one I wasn't expecting. Otherwise, I'm completely satisfied with the purchase.

Acceptable light
I run a paranormal inquest group in Portland, OR and currently use the SIMA SL-20IR (3 of them), a Sony HVL-IRM and a Sony HVL-IRH2. The best lighter of all for illumination is the SIMA but with a short battery life (~45 minutes) and a brutal recharge rhythm (~3 hours) they aren't very practical. Both Sony lights and the Phantom give off either a square or draw beam of IR light whereas the SIMA is more of a flood light that illuminates the entire area. However, with the freestyle issues I was looking for a decent light that would do the job. The Phantom runs on a 9-volt with approximately a 12 hour being making it ideal. It is very light and smaller than I expected which is nice. It does emit a from start to finish beam of light but is bright in zero light conditions. I'm still hoping someone can make a evolve as good as the SIMA but with the battery life of the Phantom or Sony lights. I own 3 SIMA lights which adds up to around $110 but all three came with a combine. I...

Expert Light
I bought a 36 tuber Night Vision Illuminator (different brand) that lights up the dark perrdy good, but I needed more faint. I saw the Phantom NV and thought it would be a good idea to try a different company to compare quality. WOW this article is like a NV spotlight compared to the other one! Strange thing is.. it uses less bulbs. It is more conveinent that is takes a 9V freestyle too. The only down fall is I think they should throw in a mounting bracket for free instead of selling it seperately. Casper

One imperceptible, two jobs.
This graceful is great! I keep it mounted on my video camera and I never miss a shot due to low light. The light indeed improves indoor shots. The IR light is an added bonus for capturing night shots that the built in IR moral can't reach.

Buyer Video Review Length:: 0:36 MinsI'm a member of a paranormal investigation organize so IR nightshot is a must. What came with my camera (Sony HDR-HC5) was good but not as good as it could be with this attachment. I can already tell a Draconian increase in the night shot capabilities. Godlike Video Light but very pricey
Im using this HVL HIRL video trivial with a Sony HC7. Nightshots do get enhanced brightness (though not very much brighter that the unaided HC7 nightshot capability). Having said that, I must declare that it illuminates a roughly 3 ft (1m) circle more of the surroundings than with an unaided HC7. The visible range video effulgent is not any brighter than a fairly powerful spot light which one can get in Radio Shack / Auto parts retailers. So all in all, its a right compact video light but I'd not want to pay anything more than 30-35$ (I shelled out $75+ since I had no clue of how usable it actually is). So my advice, just dont buy unless its below $35.

This camera is a noble piece of equipment. The IR mode is a wonderful feature, and it has the standard picture mode as well. The portrait quality in IR mode is good at best, but what do you expect with 6 IR LED lights? I have noticed smearing if the camera isn't still, which can be kind of annoying. The video mode gives very good quality as well, however there is no sound playback on the camera. It has to be uploaded to the computer. I ordered an IR illuminator which will fix this hard in an instant. The battery life is good at best as well, however I discovered that the camera actually charges off of my car stallion for my BlackBerry. I was VERY excited when discovering this. Even if you're not a paranormal investigator, this camera is still very good for unvarying picture taking. The IR mode in daylight gives a VERY cool effect on photos. close price for night vision
Winsome camera. I bought it just for the night vision. It's small and lightweight. The night dream is great but really need a tripod so the pic taken isn't blurry. The range of night perception is good for a room but not really outside too much. The battery doesn't last too long but overall it was usefulness the price.

No your camera must be proficient to "see" infrared (night vision) if it does not have it then it wont labour.
